Helicopter flights

Featured Replies

It's probably been asked before, but can helicopters be made to show up and land? In AFCAD, they allow you to create a helipad, but I can't get anything to land there. AITM accepts the Bell 205, and I can add a flight to the timetable, but nothing shows up. Knowing that the longest RW gets the traffic, I made an overlay with just the helipad. (BTW, I'm doing McClellan Park, formerly McClellan AFB). I want to have police & USFS choppers landing there. I have all sorts of other aircraft now landing there, but no helicopters. Can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for any input.

Do a search in the filenames for "aiheli*" which are a group of files that show you how to get helicopters working as ai aircraft. Basically, helicopters do not work as AI, but if given a modified motorglider type airfile, they can be tricked into behaving almost like helicopters.

Hi Page,I had the honor of meeting your brother, Bill Cline, during some flight simulator testing. He spoke well of you!W. Sieffert

Hovercontrol has a very comprehensive thread on AI Helicopters. Holger Sandman has done a great job on this. Basically, you need to create an overlay with very short runways, plus its own parking and frequencies. Then add the AI-specific helicopters and some flight plans. His examples (available from Hovercontrol or AVSIM) work right out of the box, and it's easy to create your own once you see how he's done it. There is a large hanger of whirlybirds available, too.http://www.yoboworks.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonb...cgi?act=SF;f=35
