dutch scenery

Featured Replies

Hello allSeveral months ago Paul van Roy made some scenery fo the Netherlands.( for FLY2 )I understood that there where problems in continueing this project.Making scnenery is very complicated and I do not want to disturb orhurry Paul , so I am putting this question here. Can we have more Dutch scenery in the future??GreetsLeen de JagerEHRD:-wave

Hi Leen,I am still recovering from a bad PC crash, which caused me having to reformat my hard drive. In the process I lost all Terrascene files that had to do with the Netherlands scenery. Luckily I had the image files, which is where most of the hard work went into, backed up on my macintosh and on CD. I still have to reinstall Fly, Terrascene, ArcExplorer and the lot though. So I'll have to (almost) start from scratch again. When all that is done, there is still the nagging problem of adjacent tiles not wanting to show up when I use quarter tiles. I tried working with whole globe tiles, but then I had problems with lining up the tiles properly. When I first created the scenery for Fly, it was a lot of fun, because I could just concentrate on the creative side. Everyting just worked as advertised. With all the technical problems I'm having now, I must confess the motivation to push on is somewhat lacking at the moment...But I have a few weeks of vacation coming up soon. I don't intend to spend them entirely behind my PC, but I'll give the Netherlands for Fly II a shot again.Cheers,Paul

When two or more quarter tiles are adjacent and lie within the same globe tile, one of them usually won't show up. I had this problem with the original Fly and not just with Fly2. So, I would agree with you that creating full globe tiles is on the right track. They generally display just fine, so long as they don't exceed their bounds (use the snap to grid option in Terrascene). In some rare cases I have had to increase the load margins in the SCF file. I've sliced more than a few dozen full tiles in Fly2, and have encountered only a few solvable problems with adjacent full globe tiles loading predictably. It's alot of fun, but not exacltly the stuff that makes for a vacation.

Hallo Paul & MarkThanks for your reaction.Maybe Paul can do something with Mark`s information , I have no idea. The past months I have been some repainting , the Pa19 PH-WAP and I am still working on two other(military) versions of the Pa19.That kind of work is difficult enough for me.Making scenery is for the scenery-secialists.Please keep the work going on, but do not spent to much time on it.All the best.LeenEHRD
