>something none of the others are doing????????????????????????????????Do`nt I ??????????????????BTW.I am working on a new project now. It`s the most complicated repaint I ever did.WARNING!!!!!!!!!This is NOT a German plane. This is a genuine Finnish airplane with the markings the FinnishAirforce used since 1918.The Finnish airforce changed to blue and white roundels after theterrible misbehaveour of a really bad dude-Germany.A detailled explanation will be provided at the release. There must be NO misunderstanding:I HATE everything what has to do with ######-Germany.BUT this bird is rare and beautiful and it really flew. The file will contain a swastika to roundel conversion-kit for thosewho do not want this disreputable signs.RegardsLeenhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/20611.jpg

Have fun in Collage Steve! But All-knowing Steve Brown, learn something he doesn't allready know?! ;-)Love the re-paint Leen! I just asked my sister what country she thought it was from and she mistakenly called it German :( Thanks for the calrification.

">something none of the others are doing"Sorry Leen, I meant that none of the others in the collage course are doing anything like this. :-) Not you guys! They are just merging photo's together, but Im using this for a purpose in the flight sim. Showing them how you can use what we learn in the course and applying it.I hope I didnt offend you, sometimes I find it hard to write what I think with all the noise around here.Your new repaint is awesome!Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.jpg][/divTHERE'S A BIG WAVE COMING!Whats New!http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/fly2theuk/whatsnew.htmMy United Kingdom Scenery.http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+Viewhttp://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/avsim/bart.htm

I think the swastika was originally phonician in origin, it was the other way around from the ######/German version and was the sign of the sun. I was at a dig in the North of Tunisia, not to far from Carthage,15 years ago. They were found on the decorative floors and walls. It was also a goodluck sign and put on coins. (See attachments) Puts a different view on the swastika - a really bad dude nicked it!Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.jpg][/divTHERE'S A BIG WAVE COMING!Whats New!http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/fly2theuk/whatsnew.htmMy United Kingdom Scenery.http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+Viewhttp://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/avsim/bart.htm

They talked about it on "The Most" a while back, I think it refered to either eternity or peace, or something like that. The ###### emblem was tilted 45 degrees however for a more stylized design, apparently the normal straight up and down configuration was too boring for his tastes. If I remember correctly there are American items from pre-WWII that have that design on them.John S. This is what Encyclopaedia Britannica has to say about the"Swastikaequilateral cross with arms bent at right angles, all in the same rotary direction, usually clockwise. The swastika as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune is widely distributed throughout the ancient and modern world. The word is derived from the Sanskrit svastika, meaning "conducive to well-being." It was a favourite symbol on ancient Mesopotamian coinage. In Scandinavia the left-hand swastika was the sign for the god Thor's hammer. The swastika also appeared in early Christian and Byzantine art (where it became known as the gammadion cross, or crux gammata, because it could be constructed from four Greek gammas [ ] attached to a common base), and it occurred in South and Central America (among the Maya) and in North America (principally among the Navajo). In India the swastika continues to be the most widely used auspicious symbol of Hindus, Jainas, and Buddhists. Among the Jainas it is the emblem of their seventh Tirthankara (saint) and is also said to remind the worshiper by its four arms of the four possible places of rebirth--in the animal or plant world, in hell, on Earth, or in the spirit world. The Hindus (and also Jainas) use the swastika to mark the opening pages of their account books, thresholds, doors, and offerings. A clear distinction is made between the right-hand swastika, which moves in a clockwise direction, and the left-hand swastika (more correctly called the sauvastika), which moves in a counterclockwise direction. The right-hand swastika is considered a solar symbol and imitates in the rotation of its arms the course taken daily by the Sun, which in the Northern Hemisphere appears to pass from east, then south, to west. The left-hand swastika more often stands for night, the terrifying goddess Kali, and magical practices. In the Buddhist tradition the swastika symbolizes the feet, or the footprints, of the Buddha. It is often placed at the beginning and end of inscriptions, and modern Tibetan Buddhists use it as a clothing decoration. With the spread of Buddhism, the swastika passed into the iconography of China and Japan, where it has been used to denote plurality, abundance, prosperity, and long life.In ###### Germany the swastika (German: Hakenkreuz), with its oblique arms turned clockwise, became the national symbol. In 1910 a poet and nationalist ideologist Guido von List had suggested the swastika as a symbol for all anti-Semitic organizations; and when the National Socialist Party was formed in 1919-20, it adopted it. On Sept. 15, 1935, the black swastika on a white circle with a red background became the national flag of Germany. This use of the swastika ended in World War II with the German surrender in May 1945, though the swastika is still favoured by neo-###### groups."Roy B. :-waveOslo, Norway

Thanks Roy, an interesting read.Colin

Thanks Roy,for this intersting article.Generally spoken the left turning swastika stands for the good and the right turning one for the bad.But that`s absolutely not always the case.A very significant detail is not mentioned in the article. The ###### sw. is rotated 45 degrees.Intersting is the swastika in the presidential standard of Finland. The swastika was in this flag from 1920 till 1944.From 1944 to 1946 it was replaced by two bars. From 1946 till this day the swastika is back in the flag.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/20930.jpgfrom 1920 to 1944 and from 1946 till now.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/20932.jpgfrom 1944 to 1946
