How do I get RW winds aloft?

Featured Replies

After reinstalling this great sim I rushed getting InfoMETAR. I am using it to set the weather, but it only affects surface weather - winds at all above levels remain equal...Is there any utility that enables automatic setting of RW winds aloft, like ActiveSky does for MSFS?

download the latest squawk box and you'll get real time weather....tony

Tony Crider made a winds aloft random generator dll file a while back. I used to use it some. I haven't tried the squawkbox but real time weather sounds like it might be better.

It's great. this can be done without the need to fly in Vatsim controlled ATC environment.tony

How Tony?I have already created an account at VATSIM, but there is still a long way to go before I get online...If there was some way to get those winds aloft just for testing...Can you provide me additional help?

JcWith the latest squawkbox, you don't need to have a Vatsim account. You can simply load real time weather and it will continue to update it every five minutes as you fly. So there's no need for ATC. tony

Tony, thx! Just 1 more thing: Do I have to be "connected" to any of the IPs listed under "Connect" in order for the Auto WX option to give me RW Weather updates?

No. Obviously, it assumes that you have an internet line. If you've done everything correctly, the real weather should pop up almost instantly--unless you are far away from a good station. So for testing purposes, pick an active internatinal airport.tony
