Minimizing hard drive access?

I notice that either a) after flying for a while, or :( starting off in a mountainous area, my hard drive is constantly accessing.Any thoughts on ways to minimize this? It's what seems to be causing stutters.BTW, with almost everything turned up (and full autogen) I generally get really smooth flying...Andrew

Yes definitely,Buy more RAM. =) 512MB should do the trick. That't what I have and when I'm flying MSFS I don't hear my HD's.How much RAM you got? OS?Cheers,Eric

Hi Eric,Thanks!Win 98, Dell Dimension XPS T500 w/ a 1.2 Tualatin upgrade, Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32 vid card, but only (cough) 128 ram...Well, at least it's a cheap fix. Hi Andrew,Eric is correct - buy more RAM. If you like the sim performance before it accesses your HD, then your current card should be fine.

Hey - how you liking that powerleap upgrade?I have a P3 1GZ ( upgraded from 600 last year ) and am waitingfor the 1.4 Tualatin Powerleap to come out - gotta ekk out alittle more out of this computer with that upgrade.Yeah - memory would be good for you - and one of thosenew cheaper GF4-Ti4200 might be a good bet.Myles
