Twin Otter livery request

Featured Replies

Dear All,As the DHC6 nears 'beta' stage, I need some suggestions regarding suitable liveries for the Seattle/Sanfran regions. I already have a suitable livery for that 'other' region (Loganair) which will sit nicely with 'that' region's DHC8 livery ;)I know I could do a million different skydive clubs but I don't have any decent photos of DHC6's around these two areas - any preferences? Please post or link photos if possible :-wave******************* Jonathan Point *******************

Hi Jon,I still rather vote for that one (out of the million) special skydiving club - the callsign "D-IVER" is just too good... :)http://www.skyfun.de/grafik/Castellon_2003/ca03_0545.jpgI love this plane (left it a couple of times during flight...) and still can guarantee full picture/sound support for that special plane starting next April... http://www.skyfun.de/grafik/Castellon_2003/ca03_0482.jpg...and somewhere I might even find/take pictures with the jumper door removed and the regular one built in...http://www.skyfun.de/grafik/Castellon_2003/ca03_0474.jpgBlue Skies, Steffen

Steffen,I could do one with a 'rolladoor' and 4-blade props if you'd like. Is that a German flag on the tail? Also, I assume the yellow/grey stripes but is the bottom deep blue or black - kinda hard to tell!:-wave******************* Jonathan Point *******************

Jon,I'd LOVE that! It is indeed a German flag on the tail. Yellow/grey stripes are correct, the bottom (and the horizontal stabilizer) are black. Just to be on the safe side, here are some more pics.http://exit4000.de/Bilder/Diver/030518_aldiload2.jpghttp://exit4000.de/Bilder/Diver/030518_aldiload1.jpghttp://exit4000.de/Bilder/Diver/030518_iver1_450x338.jpghttp://www.skyfun.de/grafik/Castellon_2003/ca03_0272.jpgBlue Skies,a happy Steffen

To me the livery is secondary as long as the model looks right and flies more or less like the real thing. The German skydiver plane is a great "model". As the various FU3 regions are concerned I'm sure that there are local airline company liveries that would fit. British Columbia is (or, used to be) Twin Otter country and any BC livery would fit the Seattle region. If I get time I may very well contribute and do some repaints after Christmas.best regards,Hans Petter

Thanks, Folks! You are correct, Hans-Petter, which is why, although I have 'textured' the 3D model (by placing wire-frame textures everywhere), I haven't actually created much in the way of real textures! So far, the only 'real' textures are fairly generic i.e. wheels, oil coolers, air intakes, windows (yep, although 'transparent, I've found a way to get that multi-coloured 'tinted' look for the windows). Part of the reason for this, apart from flight model testing is that I have spent a lot of time adjusting the model for accuracy since receiving some drawings of the aircraft. This required the addition of many polygons in critical areas like tail, elevators and struts. Of course, I then got carried away - we not only have a wire aerial but static-discharge wires on the wings, tail and elevators! Due to the small number of windows required, I have used 'real' ones - so you can also see right through the cabin windows from side to side. Last night I completed a harrowing VFR flight in terrible conditions from Coupville to Ranger (should have been IFR...). After seeing the strip appear through the fog at the last minute, I rolled-out the double-slatted flaps, brought the engines to idle and dropped like a stone. A blip of the throttle to level her out on final and I was safely on the ground. Pulled-up in MUCH less than half of the Ranger strip, too. So far, I haven't found one FU3 strip that she won't operate from, which is great! Another contender for dome and carrier landings I reckon :-lolGive me a week or so and I'll send some 'pre-beta' copies to my trusty test pilots - heck, I haven't lost one yet ;):-wave******************* Jonathan Point *******************

Jon.Twin Otter is fitting perfect into FU3.Don't forget to send me a Betacopy to test it.We used to see the Twin Otter on the sky for many many years,Flying passengers to almost every airports along our coast in all weather conditions. For me and many others this is a special.(almost a legend Aircraft together with the Dash7 here in Norway-operated by wider

Hi Jon ; I don't have any preference but found this . It would be fitting also.CaptRolo

Capt,Yeah, I was considering doing a floatplane version - if I can find enough spare polygons! I actually pruned some on Friday night, just in case (I was at 1949...) I needed some for some odds and ends. It will have to come afterwards, but I have reserved one texture bitmap for the floats in the resfile. I'll do a count on the gear and see what I've got - I think the wheels are about 70 each, plus the nose struts - about 20.Of course, a floatplane is a 'natural' for FU3 I guess!:-wave******************* Jonathan Point *******************
