IFR flights in the Beechjet

Featured Replies

OK, I would like to know how to fly the Beechjet in IFR conditions....without using the autopilot. I have never flown any virtual plane in IFR conditions, so this is alien territory to me. How do I align the plane with the runway if I cannot see it ? Is this only possible with an ILS runway, or can I use another method ? The Flight Training section in FU3 provides some examples of VOR and NDB approaches for landings, but to be perfectly honest they are about as much use to a novice as a 2000 feet long runway is to a 747 pilot !Consider this the latest FU3 challenge :-)Chris Low.

Chris.Do you know how to use the Multi Function Display in the Beech Jet?If so set it up to the airport you'd like to land at and watch your headings, You should be able to fly into any Airport in the total darkness, watch the heading indicater and the DH indicater on your way in. make sure you have charts and good maps for the area your flying. You need to know the elevation of the runway and the terrain in that area.If you'd like a good book for FU3 showing you these procedures look for Prima's Offical Strategy Guide I bought one when I first bought FU3.The cover looks like thishttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84628.jpgThe back cover looks like thishttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/84629.jpgIt's 206 pages of very nice instructions for what your trying to do right nowhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/84630.jpgThis could wear me out, I need to go back to fishing to fill that long lost order for tons of fish from the other guys.I didn,t mean to cheat on them landings :-lolWow I might have had this if I hadn't been using my Fly rod with that 2 lb test line :-lolhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/84636.jpgHave Fun :-vuurAllan and PuppyBush Flying Unlimitedhttp://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gif

ChrisRight here at the AVSIM file Library is a file that is not specifically for the Beech but it may help with those IFR dark places ;-) A very nice tutorial, X-Plane based, but quite informative in general.flyingifr.zip (perhaps a bit hefty @ 5 megs, but good things don't come too thin...).RegardsPieter]
