Flight Unlimited III gives black screen on startup

Featured Replies

HiI am having problems running FUIII, has anyone else come across the same problem. I have just installed WinXP and am using a Matrox Marvel G450 eTV card. Flight Unlimited III has worked ok for years on Win98, but for some reason now, after install I go to start the game and all I get is a black screen with the cursor displayed as an egg timer.I understand there is a patch for the Nvidia, but will it work with a matrox card, and if not, is there another way out of the problem.I have tried setting the compatibility mode to all settings and changing the resolution etc but withoutluckHoping in anticipation

Have you checked the thread below? You may be missing the Indeo codec for running the start-up screen. Indeo came with previous versions of MS operating systems but XP skipped it. You may still download and install the Indeo codec or you may skip the intro movie by putting "nomovie" in the flight3.cfg. If so, you won't need the Indeo codec.Hans Petter

Hi HansMany many thanks for the help, the "nomovie" command worked a treat, all I can say is that Xp is a pain. I tried the same idea with "need for speed III" but still can't get that working. Thanks again

Richie,Ahh, I see that you have solved your problem. However, my suggestion regarding installation of the patch is still a good one ;-)Chris Low.
