hi againi downloaded gimp but i'm completley lost:-Sit just pains gray onto my classification map and it wont paint yellow!could you show a step by step guide so i can actually do this thing?its now even more difficult with GIMP

Yes Gimp is not easy to begin :-(1. Start Gimp2. load the cl5xxyy.tga file, you can drag from the explorer window and drop it in the Gimp window to open3. zoom up with the zoom tool4. to open the palette Menu->Dialogs->Colortable5. use the first 4 colors of the palette only6. click on the 4. color (yellow) then you will see the selected color in the Gimp window7. select the stencil with hard lines for painting 8. select the pencil size 1x1 -> 1 pixelhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186733.jpg9. paint, Ctrl z will undo10.To remove yellow areas/ pixels use green or red11. save file using menu->file->save as12. Very important: at the tga specification uncheck RLE-Compression and origin bottom left and click OKhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186734.jpg13 close the Gimp window:-waveAndre

thanks ill give it a go!how do i add the layer that lets me edit the landscape to precision?thats all im gonna need now i think if this works (hopefully!)

my computer really has it in for me :-(its all perfectly flat but theres potholes that are like 100ft deep in my landscape! what happened!and Gimp keeps misplacing a file so it never works twiceill keep trying but i really need some professional help here (hint hint)

OK put the class file and the missplaced GIMP file in a zip at the next reply.:-waveAndre

you must be annoyed by this post.ive got it sorted finally!but theres a load of bumps and ditches in the landscape.everything is fine and it technically works...but not if you taxi off the runway fron halfway or further and just want to get home.any explanation?and by the way... ive fixed GIMP but i didn't know what the misplaced file was, i re ran the setup and its all fine now.ive messed up a tile and also accidentally broken the backup file as well. could you zip up the backup geotiles file for seattle? then i can start again with even more precision( and make two or three backups :-S)

may be you are using an old version of GeoTilesVieweryou must use version 3.4download it from herehttp://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=91686You can download the GeosTiles.tag backup of Seattle here:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=91621and the runway problem... after flattening the area you must readjust your models and the blue airport square to the new elevation or the runway will float above / below the new ground.good luck:-waveAndre

Great!!!thanks and ill try it now!

OMG!!! the massive bumps are still there!if i send you th GIMMMP edited node could you identify the problem?i can't see anything wrrrrong...

Yes just zip it here with the next reply:-waveAndre

Ok, congrats, the paint job is ok :-), just look at the island below the airport - there is a miss placed yellow dot thereFor Seattle the flattening of airports are a bit more tricky because LG set the sea level to 109 ft in the original game !When you import classification you must set as first the sea level to 109ft. The select the adae node and import the classification. The proposed airport level is the 163. This is based on the level found at the first yellow pixel found from bottom left. For your area this is a deep level and it will look better when you choose 300ft or even more.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186865.jpgYou can try out the level you want, just re import the class tga on the same place with another level and take a flight until you find the level nicely integrated into the landscape. When you change the yellow area then you need to take the backup geos first to sweep away your old airport elevation.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186867.jpgTHE BUMPS ARE THEN STILL THERE - don't worry :-)Once your elevation is as you want, then be sure to have 109ft in the sea level window and then export the elevation of adae to get e0adae.tgahttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186866.jpgthe sea level must be black, the it's ok. ( if it's dark red then your sea level was set at 0)Important last step !now import the elevation - without change , but set Sea level to 109 and then the bumps are away and you will have a nice flat surface :-)Short explanation:Yellow color flattening is for small corrections, as shown at the Coupeville Nolf example. Level5 of the maps are flattened only. The corner points of sub maps must be at the same level or bumps will appear. After re importing the level 5 elevation map the level map 2 and 0 are adapted also and so the bumps vanishes :-).Elevation can be very tricky :-) now you have to choose the elevation to have the airfield in a deep valley or the runway elevated from the beach.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186868.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186869.jpg:-waveAndre
