Lockup errors in FS2k2 using samples

Featured Replies

GuysI'm getting random lockups of FS2k2 running the RC sample files. First two times I tried to load an adventure, I got a freeze requiring a reboot under XP Pro, which usually never happens.I then managed to complete the KTUS-KALB flight but then I got a lockup when I set my parking brakes at my dest. Again, had to reboot.I thought maybe TweakXP was causing this and I wanted to reorganize partitions so I did a full reinstallation of XP and FS2k2, started up in the cessna at KTUS and as soon as I got started on the scenario...lockup. Started again with the Posky 773 and it happened before I'd got away from the gate. Before it locked up with a black screen, I saw that the problem seemed to be with terrain.dll but I didn't manage to get to the tech report in time...I'm now 45 minutes into a flight with default ATC and no problems. I ran your uninstaller first. I've seen no problems like mine on the forum and the only other thing I can think of is FSUIPC - I'm running 2.85. Do problems with this version of it extend beyond winds aloft? When I get finished on my flight I'll try 2.86Beyond this, I'm stumped: Nothing on the system bar FS now.I really want to rule out RC a.s.a.p so I can get on and order it, it's so much more involving than the default.Hoping someone can advise..Best regards//NeilHardware:AMD XP 1800+512MB PC133Radeon 7500Gigabyte 7ZXEXP Pro (up-to-date hotfixes)

did you edit the fs2002.cfg file, and change the cache wavs setting from 1 to 0?

HiYes I did because of the scenery error messages, which then went away as expected. On the reinstalled system, this was done before I ran the RC samples.I'll delete FS2002.cfg then reinstall the samples and try it again to make sure but that's not doing anything I've not done already. I managed a 1.5 hour default ATC flight without a crash. I'll also make sure I set AI traffic to 0 before initializing an adventure.ThanksBest regards//Neil

don't delete the fs2002.cfg file, fs2002 will stop workingdid you try generic ms plane, with generic ms panel, with generic ms scenery?

HiI flew the KTUS-KABQ flight for half an hour today in the default cessna and I didn't have a problem apart from the severe reprimand when I decided to u-turn back to base :) Previous to the system changes outlined below, this aircraft and panel blackscreened the OS after crashing FS.Changes:1. Uninstalled RC samples2. Deleted FS2002.cfg3. Restarted FS2k2 to rebuild .cfg4. Set AI to zero5. Set wav caching=06. Reinstalled the RC samplesI'll do more exhaustive testing over the next couple of days to make sure the system is stable. Thanks and best regards//Neil
