Unable to get to assigned altitude

Featured Replies

JD or Scott I am flying from Bush Intl Houston KIAH to KCRP Corpus Christi I am using AA 727-200 3rd party aircraft and panel.I cannot get to my assigned altitude under radar contact. My assigned altitude is FL180, controller tells me to go tp FL150,before I get to fl 150,the controller tells me I have broken my my flight level assigned altitude. set the Bar setting to 29.92 but still get warning that I have broken assigned altitude. I have tried 2 different planes, same problemany suggestions. thanks Rocky

don't set the altimeter to 29.92 UNTIL you at or above the transition level, in your case 18000your flight is so short, it is probably terminal enroute, which means you never really talk to a center controller.you could ask for 350, and never reach that altitude. 15000 is probably as high as you're going to get, no matter what altitude you file
