August 22, 200223 yr JD or scott I have been trying to get co-pilot to work,I know that on some of the 3rd party planes, the co-pilot feature does not work as they have a different auto pilot, but I tried the default 747 and 737 and still does not work.do you have any suggestions, what I can do,or what to check,I have the latest version of radar contact.the co-pilot handles the radios ok.thanks Rocky
August 22, 200223 yr Commercial Member straight from www.jdtllc.com/faq.htm -"I give the plane to the co-pilot, she says "I got it" but she doesn't make heading or altitude changes. What's wrong?"Your aircraft's AP has to be lit up and HEADING and ALTITUDE have to be activated. "Otto" basically flies the plane using the AP on the panel. If it's not on she can't do it. Be advised that there are some "NON-STANDARD FS98/FS2K" auto pilots being used on some panels that "Otto" may not be able to interface with. These types are ones where you do not have the ability to actually enter a desired altitude or set a desired heading. These include some of the Dreamfleet panels. JD Read my blog
September 12, 200223 yr JD I have tried using the co-pilot using the default planes, also some of the 3rd party planes, that have the features where you can set your altitude-speed-and heading, but co-pilot still does not work.any suggestions,co-=pilot works ok on the radios.but co-pilot does not fly planes as instructed.thanksRocky
September 12, 200223 yr Let's start with the basics.1. How many files do you have in Fleetwood0?_________________Rick [email protected] SupportJDT LLC
September 13, 200223 yr 629 is the correct number of files for the co-pilot folder. I'd like you to run a test.I want you to fly the default 737-400 aircraft using any adventure you like.Load your adventure as you normally would. As part of your preflight checklist I want you to do the following.1. Turn on the Heading Hold Switch (it will be labeled HDG)2. Turn on the Altitude Hold Switch (it will be labeled ALT)3. Turn on the Speed Hold Switch (it will be labeled IAS)4. Turn on the Yaw Damper Hold Switch (labeled Y/D)5. All four switches should now be lite!Start the adventure and do what the controller tells you. Once you have taxied onto the runway and are lined up for take-off make any necessary changes to Heading. You should already have set the altitude to what the controller told you.Once your wheels leave the ground turn on the Auto Throttle Switch (it is labeled A/T Arm)Next turn on the Auto Pilot Master Switch (it is labeled A/P CMD)The co-pilot does not handle the throttle but I had you turn SPD on anyway. The co-pilot should now be flying the plane. Is she flying the plane? Are you hearing her? _________________Rick [email protected] SupportJDT LLC
September 13, 200223 yr Opps, I forgot one thing. Once you are in the air and the auto-pilot is on you still have control of the aircraft. Jamie can not fly the plane until you contact Departure.Once you have contacted departure and made the changes the controller requested do the following.Press Control-Shift-K at the same time. This will give Jamie the comms.Next press Control-Shift-M at the same time. This will give Jamie the plane. Now she should have both the radios and the plane._________________Rick [email protected] SupportJDT LLC
September 13, 200223 yr Rick I done what you told me to do,but co-pilot still does not work right,of on the radios, but will not follow flight pattern,or controllers orders.I do not have Jamie as co-pilot,I have a males voice, which I must of put in when I installed on cd.any other suggestions.also can I put Jamie back as my co-pilot,without to much trouble.thanksRocky
September 13, 200223 yr Rocky,Only Jamie is the CP. It sounds as if you do not have the CP engaged. Play one of the wavs in the 0 directory and tell us if it's male or female.
September 13, 200223 yr You can easily put Jamie back in the co-pilot seat. Just reinstall Radar Contact from your CD by selecting Custom install instead of Default. Then select Jamie as the co-pilot.I need a more detailed explanation of the problem you are having. You say the co-pilot will not follow the flight pattern or the controllers instructions? Are you telling me the co-pilot is flying the plane but not going where you want it to?When you filed your flight plan did you export it to both FS2002 and Radar Contact? Before you loaded your adventure in FS2002 did you first load the flight plan in the built-in FS2002 planner? This enables you to view the plan on the GPS map. I'm thinking your problem may be you have a different flight plan loaded on the GPS map than the adventure you are trying to fly. This would cause the symptoms you describe of the co-pilot not following the direction indicated on the GPS map. _________________Rick [email protected] SupportJDT LLC
September 14, 200223 yr Rick I reinstalled radar contact with CD,I done a custom install like you said,I put Jamie down as my co-pilot,I had Bob Paddock down as co-pilot before. I tried a flight with the default 737,and every thing seems to wotk good, including the co-pilot,I thought I had a choice of co-pilots,but evidently not. Tell Scott thanks also,as he thought this might be the problem. thanks againRocky

September 15, 200223 yr Rocky,Please send me your Product ID code and I will generate a new key for you.Something happened on your hard drive to make RC believe it was running on an unregistered system._________________Rick [email protected] SupportJDT LLC
