Last Comment on Copilot's Callouts

Featured Replies

Hi JD, Scott and the group, My final word on the altitude callout issue. I agree with Scott that it is not a function of ATC to provide altitude callouts to those in the cockpit of the aircraft. True !! Then I must say it is also not the function of ATC to provide the aircraft with a copilot. RCATC indeed does. So with RCATC we now have a capable copilot who can handle the radios and even fly the aircraft once we are clear of any NOTAMS. Now, this RCATC copilot DOES callout V1, VR and V2 as we go rolling down the active toward takeoff. If RATC performs a non-ATC function that does all these things above WHY CAN'T the same copilot call out altitudes as we are approaching minimums and possibly lower altitude, such as 100, 50, 40, 30, etc? The defense, thus far, that has been given against altitude callouts does not seem consistent with the program's potential. Adding a very short bit of code, with minimal execution time, would be highly desired. I will have FDC here in the beginning of next week but I think you folks gave some rather lame excuses for not having altitude callout capability.

Not as much as I am.

Hello JD, As you folks seem to be completely uncooperative in even considering the callout feature then I will simply make my own. Although I really like RC I am not completely impressed by your sometime arrogant and somewhat indifferent attitude. I simply do not understand how one can create such a lovely, in some ways, package such as RC and be blind to the need for a simple tool to help YOUR copilot to aid the flying pilot. Oh well, back to PS1 for a while.Regards

What a nitpicker :-( The RC team has already added so many features I cannot beleive this attitude :-mad If they keep adding this or that extra feature they'll always find one thing more someone will want and never get the thing finished!!!

Here here, well put...

Hello All. Nitpicker ? Yes! Why ? Let me just say: I definitely like Radar Contact and, no matter what I say, I still will buy V3 when it comes out. Now, just because I like a product that doesn't mean there isn't any need for improvement of the product itself in order to more fully meet the demands of performing a CATIIIc landing without crashing the aircraft. I assume all you folks know what a CATIIIc landing is? But as RC WILL NOT even consider adding these few lines of code, altitude callouts, I've decided to purchase FDC. While waiting for the product to arrive here at my home I resolved the problem by using another method. Few minutes work. As a result I will return the FDC package, unopened, to the dealer for a refund. I don't need it now. The matter is now closed, for me at least. It was enjoyable and interesting to follow the arguements posed in oposition to my original suggestion to JD. Some of them were logical while most were, well you know. Good weekend
