RC3 Controller Voice and Chatter Questions

Featured Replies

Hello,I just completed my first orientation flight with RC3. Working great so far, I especially like the new interface. Although I've barely scratched the surface of this new progam's capabilities, I do have a couple of questions about the voices and chatter.Firstly, I have a full install of RC3. On a short flightplan from Lubbock, Texas (KLBB) to Dallas/Ft. Worth, I noticed what seems to be a computer synthesized voice (computer generated) on ATIS. The ground controller at Lubbock had a British accent, Lubbock Tower's Controller had another synthesized voice, and the Ft. Worth Center (LOW) controller had a flaming British accent. LOL, I thought all controllers were American and only canned chatter files had foreign accents in appropiate geographical (country specific) locations? I know the FAA is cutting costs by hiring previously experienced controllers these days, but going over to England to recruit? I wonder what the deal is, albeit entertaining to hear in the Texas skies.

Oh, just thought of a couple of things.Firstly, I didn't load my flightplan into the FS2002 planner before starting RC3 (I didn't think it was necessary except to use the FS2002 GPS, which I loathe)Secondly, I didn't set the realword date and time before starting RC3.Wonder if either of these has anything to do with anything?

we're an international family ;-)the atis you heard was fs2002's atis. rc's atis report would be one of the controllers voices.i begged, and begged for people to record. few did. those that did often became beta testers (HINT HINT!)scott has the utility to create new pilot and controller voices. feel free to grab it and start recording. the more the merrier!

Can you tell me where to get the utility from Scott?I understand the desire to market RC3 internationally; multi-national controllers obviously has an appeal in this regard. I do however feel it sapps proper immersion realism though. Thanks for the insight.

JD; do you have a script of the recordings you want/need? How do you guys usually go about it?

I have used that Scotts

Haraldh,> Maybe this (the low format) is the reason why someone reports problem with the voices in RC v.3?That's certainly something to consider. I'm thinking of putting the uncompressed 8k, 8-bit PCM sets onto the Flight Deck for people to try.BTW -- I miss SimVoice, too! It would have helped a lot with people's recordings (like I got massively overpowered or under-volumed sets).

Hi Scott!I think I will download and use those 8bit files. I liked the sound quality in the earlier versions of RC.In the utility textfile you say that I need RC v.3. for to sort the 1025 wave files. That
