No controller sounds

Featured Replies

After a 3hr 15min install on my P2 450, and only a 10min wait for my key, I loaded my first flight, After receiving my weather briefing I pressed 2 for CD and nothing. The hard drive was working, but no sound. The screen then changed to contact ground, which I did and again my hardrive went into action and again no sound. After about four hours of fooling around testing default and add-on aircraft, no sound with either, I decided to consult the forum.I did a full install, but can only find three controller wave files.Numbers 0,1,and 10.How many contoller files should their be in the RC3 directory.Any help will be appreciatedArnold

Arnold,Controllers are 2-10, chatter pilots are 98 to 91. 0 and 1 are pilots. The controller directories should have 1131 files. The pilot directories should have 1026 files.

Hi ScottI found all the files, they all seem to be there. If I start RC3 before FS2002 and check my callsign, I have sound. As soon as I start FS2002, I cannot get any sound on callsign checksor contacting CD, ground, or tower.I'm stumped, never had sound problems before.Arnold

it's possible you have to increase the number of simultaneous wavs allowed to be played on the sound card driver

look in the rcv3winwood directoryhow many directories? do you have at least 0 - 12 and 91 - 99?

Hi JDI have files 0-10, and 91-99. There is no 11 or 12.Thanks for the responseArnold

Arnold,That's alright, there ARE no directories 11 or 12. ;-)

I had the same problem on an old P2-333. I never did get RC installed on it. Also my sound was an old ac97 integrated sound card and was not capable of playing simultaneous wavs. I could hear RC when I selected something in the menu for example, but when FS had the focus, I heard FS and not RC.I upgrated to a SB 5.1 and everything worked perfectly. I now use the old pc to run RC on a lan setup, and I am flying FS on my new P4 2.0 WOW!!! :-lolLarry
