December 5, 200223 yr Scott,I just discovered that if I dock the advdisplay window, I get an RC3 window at the top which contains the same information as what is displayed in the advdisplay area. Also, this DOES work with 3D when the advdisplay is docked and not visible.Question, can the RC3 display window's properties be changed? For example, can I change the background or font colors? Also, there are unusual characters displayed in that window also. Can they be taken out? Thanks a lot, Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
December 5, 200223 yr Howard,What you are seeing is the semi-transparent green FS text window. That should be closed. It's not RC doing it, it's FS. It shouldn't be there if you have AdvDisp enabled. Those characters are the CR/LF characters of the RC menu. It's effectively the same as what should be in the Advdisp window. There's a whole thread about "Can't get green line to disappear"]. I don't know if you read it, but click on that and you will. One other thing you want to do is to uncheck "ATIS Messages" in the AdvDisp menu (right-click on AdvDisp after docking).Make sure you save AdvDisp - again by right-clicking and "Save". Make sure you don't have AdvDisp too close to the panel edge. Also make sure you dock AdvDisp on the 2D panel, not the VC panel.[/bAfter docking, click on the panel to set focus to it. Hopefully that will allow the 3D glasses to work. I don't know. If Peter and the ED guys can't find a work-around, then I'm clueless and can be of no help at all.
December 5, 200223 yr Author Scott,I guess, as usual, I am a little confused. If the green line works in 3D why wouldn't I want it to be there? If I do not have AdvDisplay enabled, I can get all the same information in the "green line" and also have 3D. I "think" that could temporarily solve the problem. If there were a way to configure the properties in the "green Line", either thru RC3 or FS, so much better.Does this make sense?Thanx again, Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
December 5, 200223 yr Howard,RC uses a 7-line menu. The green FS text window only has one, and there is no way to change that. It's a leftover for adventure/lesson text display. Since they stopped supporting adventures, although leaving in some adventure coding (which will be gone in FS2004), that window is of no use for RC. You may be able to use it, but it is very difficult to read it, and it may not display all the text if you can. What is needed is MS changing that text display, or allowing the use of the ATC window for other programs, neither of which is probable. I'd write to MS and push this. I'd be happy to do away with Advdisp and use something built into FS.
December 5, 200223 yr Author "I'd be happy to do away with Advdisp and use something built into FS"Hi Scott-I agree 100% with you.Another question: As long as we are stuck with Advdisp (at least for the present) after it is docked in the 2D cockpit, is it possible to still see it in the VC? I tried last nite, and after docked in the 2D cockpit, 3D worked in that window, but then I couldn't see the Advdisp in the VC.Howard Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
December 5, 200223 yr Howard,No, it's only visible on the 2D panel once docked on it. To be more specific, it's only visible on whatever panel it's docked to. But the panel has to be 2D, not VC, which isn'tt statuc.
December 5, 200223 yr Author Scott............I SURE WISH there was a way to do without Advdisp!!!!! Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
