December 6, 200223 yr Kinda funny... I was cleared for a approach in KTPA and was given the usual heading, alt and rwy cleared to land on.My reply instead of a readback was something like "Yeah,I'll do all that..."I don't think Tampa approcah would be too thrilled w that reply ! :)Walt,
December 6, 200223 yr Hi Walt,Pilots can say whatever they like. There are no phraseology rules for them, only for us poor over worked swivel heads... :-lolLarryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 7, 200223 yr Hey Larry,Really ? I assumed you needed a clear read back which contained all pertinant information. So you saying in real life I could just say" Roger,Cleared for approach"Hmm.. Interesting.Walt,
December 7, 200223 yr Hi Walt,Yes, it's true. Here in the states we have our bible the FAA Order 7110.65. It requires us to use specific phraseology. The pilots are not bound by anything. The AIM gives guidelines, but nothing mandatory. Perhaps some companies have some policy's, but the main responsibilty for ensuring proper two way communication, is on us. So, say it any way you like and if I don't understand I will say "Say Again????" :-lolLarryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 7, 200223 yr Followed by: "I say again", followed by "2nd time" followed by "last time" followed by "we're expecting your call" followed by "HI...my name is..."747 Jumbo Jet: $400,000,000ATP certificate: $321,000Lighter: 54 centsWatching Mr. Bill light it up on someone else: Priceless
