December 6, 200223 yr jd & fellow RCV3 beta-testers and developers, I want to first off say what an enormous improvement this version is over the previous! :D It was indeed worth the wait! Your work is appreciated. I have made my way thru the tutorials to get acustomed with the menus and options, so, I figured it was time to see what this program can do. yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, that was the point of the tut's :-dohbut I wanted to practice at a familiar airport. I set up a flight from KPSM to KBNA, once I had the option in the air of returning back to KPSM, I declared it to departure. I asked to do the full ILS 34 approach and was granted such. I flew the ILS ap. and declared a missed, and wanted to hold as published at rochs. Tower said to contact departure and climb and maintain 40, heading 345, I did so, until I was granted the freedom to fly it per the plate (thank you echoflight!) held at rochs for a "lap" or two and then asked for the VOR 16 ap. I flew that and once again, declared a missed approach. Tower called and said he understood. But that was it.:( They did not issue any heading or altitude assignments, nor tell me to contact departure control. I climbed as published to 30 and turned heading 162. I know that RCV3 would not know that, but I just did it because that is protocol. Now I am trying to figure out what may have happened as I am climbing so that I can contact departure so I can once again do an approach and declare a missed. My menu options at that time were (in no particular order) to req IAP, wind check, missed app, and one or two others that I cannot remember. I certainly did not miss anything, as far as instructions, because the advdisp did not switch to 1 ack and tune or 7 ack. Now by this time I am climbing thru 1.2 for 3, I have cleaned up the aircraft, and I figure, lets try to redeclare a missed app. no go, same result. My only way outta the situation was to req. IAP, which I am sure I coulda done at any time, but waited until after I held (I had my heart set on holding at shols, by golly, I am gunna do it :-lol).Are there specific requirements for aircraft location for this to work? I mean does the plane have to be exactly over the rwy? I am pretty sure that I did and have done the same thing on my prior MA's as far as timing and declaring it and such. I am at a loss, but I will try it again and see what happens, but in the mean time does anybody have any ideas? :-hmmmrodman
December 6, 200223 yr Commercial Member try this for grins. file kbna to kpsm. and do what you did. see if it is any differenti want to eliminate that it was the return to kpsm after takeoff that confused those swivel heads. JD Read my blog
December 6, 200223 yr jd,ok.I will run the same procedure but this time at KBNA.but again, I was able to return to KPSM, then do a MA, hold as pub. so, I do not know, but I will try KBNA to KPSM, with a return to KBNA and do a few ma.btw, what is wrong with my sig??? It is that RCsupporter.jpg cut and pasted. oh well.thanks for the idea!rodman

December 6, 200223 yr jd,I redid the same thing at KPSM before going to KBNA, and I was able to get one more approach in before I expirenced the above noted problem. I then went to KBNA to try it. I just finished up there. Same result. :-hmmmI departed rwy 2L, got to the 10 mi. mark and called to head back to KBNA. I then proceeded with the ILS 2C app., MA, hold at tands, then went for the ILS 31 app., on the missed, I experienced the same lack of control. Tower did not tell me to contact dep. Is anybody else out there doing practice approaches and declaring MA? Does anybody else want to try it? I know jd, that you have tested it because I remember a thread a while back about this same thing, but not having the issue I am. I am sure one of the beta testers no doubt had to go thru a lot of this testing too.rodman
