December 6, 200223 yr Dear all,I thought it had arrived, a parcel to collect from the post office...no such luck I have been rejected from the 2003 London Marathon. I was hoping to beat this years time, never mind.I currently have SB Audigy and a Plantronics USB headset into my PC. I can use this for online flying using VATSIM and Roger Wilco. Controller voices are heard through the headset not the speakers. All A/C sounds come from the speakers. Will I be able to use this with RC3? If so how will I go about setting this up?Secondly with playing simulataeneous wav files. How do I know if my sound card is set to do this?Hoping to cover all areas in case of difficulty. ThanksClowesy. (waiting patientily for the postman).
December 6, 200223 yr We are very interested in this capability also for use in our simulator. Any RC guys out there able to give us some hope?Michael
December 6, 200223 yr Commercial Member you could achieve this by running rc on a networked computer with widefsthe fs machine would give you your fs sounds through it's sound card, and the rc machine would give you the rc sounds through it's sound card JD Read my blog
December 6, 200223 yr Thanks for the rely JD,I currently have the setup working with RW and Vatsim on 1 PC. I do not have a network! well not yet anyway...Can I choose where the RC controllers voice will come from ie, computer sound card or the headsets soundcard? (plantronics dsp 300 has an integrated soundcard so none required in the pc).so in control panel, sound and audio drivers I have selected primary sound playback = audigy and voice record = plantronics. In roger wilco I select primary sound device as plantronics so I can hear controllers and talk to Vatsim etc.Is this then possible, without talk, of course, to listen to the RC controller instructions. Can I choose on a single pc where the sounds from RC3 will come from?sorry to be a burden,Clowesy
December 6, 200223 yr Commercial Member sorry, rc comes out the speakers of the machine running rc JD Read my blog
December 6, 200223 yr Hmm. I have almost the exact opposite situation. I'm running FS on my game rig, that I use headphones on, and RC on my laptop. I was wondering if anyone knows of a (relatively) inexpensive audio mixer that I could take the audio from both computers and hear them in my headphones. It might be cheaper to just buy speakers for my game machine. I'd rather use the headphones tho.
December 7, 200223 yr nristow, yeah... you should be able to get a headphone splitter cable. It's probable that you won't get a STEREO cable (you will find plenty of mono ones) which will split one headphone cable into two jack plugs, but you will certainly find a cable which takes two headphones and turns them into one plug!! But you can use this...These piccies are from Maplins. Unfortunately your ideal lead is often in mono only. However, you may find a stereo one! Otherwise you should be able to get a stereo splitter cable, but as in the other picture, it'll probably be splitting only to female (I have one of these) A 'plug' on one end with a split and two 'sockets' at the other. You should be able to get around this by buying two stereo jack-to-jack leads (to effectively turn the female sockets into male plugs, to go into your soundcards) and a connector (a little plug that has a famale socket at either end, used to connect two jack plugs together). Also, if you buy online, make sure you get the correct size jacks! It wouldn't happen in a store but online it sounds silly, but it's easily done.I got my piccies from http://www.maplin.co.uk/ but any good music or A/V store should stock a good selection of leads.Hope this helps,Simon.
