December 8, 200223 yr Followed ground instructions and held short. Contacted tower which I did. Reply was taxi into position and hold, which I did correctly.Advdisp changed to the Abort Takeoff choice and nothing further occurred. Waited three minutes, then took off on my own.So why did I not get cleared for takeoff especially after holding some time on the runway as indicated? My AI traffic for now is down all the way in FS as is chatter in RCV3.Could it be that some AI traffic is necessary to get the correct sequence out of RC?Also, in my area of Class B (MSP), from an outlying airport within the TCA 20 nm ring departure radar vectors you to the first fix after establishing climb on runway heading. I did not get any radar vectors from RC, just a warning I was getting off course while I continued straight expecting a radar response.Comments please. I did read most of the manual.
December 8, 200223 yr Ron,RC couldn't care less about AI.The only real thing I can think of is that you were either on the wrong runway, or you were more than, I think, 10 degrees off center. RC looks for you to be lined up in the runway heading before clearing you. Also, three minutes isn't unheard of. If you've been sitting there for 5, then you really know you have a problem. It's odd that you got any communications at all without T/O clearance. However, if your first waypoint is within 30 miles of the airport, you are flying a Departure Procedure. You would have gotten "via Departure Procedures" in your CD.All this is meaningless unless you get T/O clearance. So be sure you really are on the right runway, and straight. If you still don't get clearance, let us know.
