Most Bizzare RC Flight Ever...

Featured Replies

Finally took a longer flight using RCv3.0. Flew COA426 LAX-IAH in my PIC-equipped 757 by Michael Troussant (sp?). I requested runway 25R in the RC box but was given r/w 6L. I requested 25R and got it. Other than that, there were no big problems until my decent except I swear I had the same controller the entire trip! Sounded like a person foreign to the US but it was the same guy in LA, ABQ, and IAH. Huh? Now for the bizzare stuff. There I was, cruisin' at FL370 when I get the call to decend to FL350. Good enough. I'm 140 miles from KIAH and it's time to go on down. I level off at FL350 and almost immediately get the instruction to "Turn right to 175, decend and maintain 9,000". Hmmmm. Well, OK. You're the controller. Down I go. Somewhere around FL320 I start getting busted for exceeding 250 kts. Every 20 seconds I get the call "COA426 reduce speed not to exceed 250 knots". Hey, guy. I'm at 30,000 ft and can't slow down that quickly! :-grr this went on all the way down. I also got the call to d/m 5,000 ft, steer 115 until on the ILS -- and I was over 100 miles out! Talk about a straight in approach. The guy finally stopped bustin my chops when I got below 10,000 and slowed. I never got to leave the freq to get the weather. It wasn't an option in the AdvDisp box! So, here I am on a straight in approach to r/w 8 at KIAH and I'm 68 miles out at 5,000 ft. Strange. At 17 miles I saw the runway and requested a visual approach. That's the first time I heard the weather given. Wind 075/8. OK. down the ILS we go. Landed fine and was told to exit the r/w. Did that. Told to taxi to gate C45. Did that. Now, when the critique started I wanted to bust out laughing. Which flight was this guy monitoring??? He told me to quit sight seeing or something of the like and be sure to hit all my way points. See, that's funny cause I was on LNAV in the '57 and the only way points I missed were in the last 130 miles! Don't know what the problem was here but gee was it a strange approach into Houston today.
