Is there a way to make airport specific chatter?

Featured Replies

I read a statement in the RC3 manual that there is a way to make airport specific chatter. I see how to make regional (Center area specific chatter) but don't see how to make individual airport chatter. Can anyone please clarify how to do this? Thanks.

create a directory in winwood, calling it the icao code of the airport.you may see a winwoodksfo....you will need twr, gnd, app, dep, etc subdirectories, and the appropriately named wav files in each of those subdirectories. use ksfo as an example

Thanks, JD. The User friendly .wav format in RC3 is awesome.

one of things i heard loud and clear with version 2.x, was you wanted to add your own chatter.i worked hard to make it easy. the only thing i ask, is if you create a new airport chatter directory, share it with everyone. same for the centers. if someone records chatter for madagascar control, share it.i'm sure we can find someplace to host the wavs....

Oh, I think I know of a place. ;-)

i'm no audio expert, that's Scott's forte.i would go buy a little male/mail cable. plug one end into the scanner earphone jack or whatever output jack is on the scanner, the other into the audio input jack on your sound card.use the windows recorder, or other software, and start recording.a couple of suggestions, don't scan, select one specific frequency, like ground, and record a bunch of ground.then tune in tower, and do the same for tower.that way, you can divide the wavs between the gnd and twr folders in your airport specific directoryyou will have to edit this "big" wav file, into a number of small individual files. you can use recorder, or other software to do that.scott.....

Thanks for the reply Scott! I have access to cape approach, Boston center and Hyannis (KHYA) airport freq. I will try to upload these to avsim. Jim
