December 11, 200223 yr Hi,I had a problem after installing, when re-booting I was looking at a blank screen, I waited in case windows was a little slow but to no avail I then tried Ctrl-Alt-Del but no luck, so my only alternative was to switch the computer off. After re-starting all looked good, so I started RC and sent of the email for registration. Upon starting for the first time I set up for the first tutorial all went well until my approach to ORD, I had the co-pilot set for comms and plane control flying at 4500 feet as directed approaching the glide slope. Aircraft turned and aligned with runway, but that was all! No descent following the glide slope, and co-pilot contacted the tower and landing permission was given, co-pilot carried on flying and handling comms but still no descent.I then had to call a missed approach and vector around for another go, this time disengaging co-pilot on final and landing myself.I have tried different airports with other planes but still the same.My system is as follows:MS Win XP Home Edition SP1AMD Athlon 1.01 Ghz768 MB RAMNVidia GeForce 2 Pro Dvr. v3.0.8.7FS2002 ProFS Nav 5.1I have updated RC and FS Nav with Richard Stefan's AIRAC files. My sound was causing me a few problems but I've carried out the advice regards BAT files, that cured it!Any ideas anyone?Otherwise I'll have to do a uninstall and install again.
December 11, 200223 yr Brian,Offhand all I can think is, you must be below the GS at time of intercept if your copilot is driving. I seen this too and have learned to be absolutely sure I get to the assigned altitude (maybe a bit quicker than I normally would) if the copilot is driving. When I do that, works everytime ;).
December 11, 200223 yr Commercial Member it's possible the runway is equipped with an ils approach hardware, but no glideslope. in other words it provides left/right alignment, but no vertical alignment JD Read my blog
December 12, 200223 yr Hi JD,Thanks for the reply, but I was vectored to intercept the glide slope at 4500 feet, approach was selected by co-pilot and A/C turned as anticipated to intercept but no glide slope descent. I've tried different aircraft at different airfields and at various altitudes on approach also I tried the same approach into ORD but took over plane to land. I also expected controls being handed back to me after tower declared I was cleared to land, number 2.I've copied my original scenery files back to FS Nav and original files updated in RC3 by the Richard Stefan's Aircad's. Re-built FS2002.cfg file, but still no joy.I guess I'll try re-installing FS2002 and FS Nav, if this doesn't do the trick I'll do another install of RC3. I wondered if my problem at re-boot upon finishing RC's install, may have caused a problem with windows not saving all the files? Many thanks for your reply.I'll logon again later to see if you have any further comments.BTW will I need another key if I re-install RC?
December 12, 200223 yr Commercial Member no to the key question.do you have a glideslope indicator on the instruments? does it show up? is the glide slope above you when you turn? you can't capture the glideslope when you are on topi don't see how rc could have disabled glideslopes everywhere JD Read my blog
December 12, 200223 yr Were you using Rwy 4L at ORD? Rwy 4L is localiser only...Larryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 13, 200223 yr Commercial Member funny you should know that :-lolare you impressed that i knew that :-) JD Read my blog
December 13, 200223 yr No Sir Boss! I haven't found much of anything you didn't know. Now that Center guy..., Well, that's a different story... :-lolLarryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 13, 200223 yr Hi Larry,Yes I was vectored to Rwy 4L. However I did a flight with just FS, and tried different aircraft, air fields and runways, still no joy.I uninstalled my FS Nav and FS2002 then re-installed and tried once more. However, I picked the wrong runway to try :-)So I used the tutorial KDSM-KORD with RC3-KDSM-KORD.pln this time I was vectored to Rwy 32L and everything went smoothly. So, maybe I'm at fault with my Rwy selection's. Dur!Many thanks for all your help guys, I appreciate it. It's nice to know there is always help when you need it.
December 13, 200223 yr Hi Brian,No problem, glad we could help. For reference, Rwy 4L at ORD is a dept rwy only and is not used for arrivals. OK, I will admit, in my 20+ years working at ORD, I have seen it used maybe 5 times. But each time the wind was about 040 at 50 kts... :-lolLarryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 13, 200223 yr Hi JD,Thanks for your reply, I carried out several flights at different locations to see if the results were the same, and didn't get any joy, so I carried out a fresh install of FS 2002 and FS Nav.I don't know whether the bad re-boot or the update to FS Nav and RC3 with Aircad files caused problems. Anyhow I carried out another flight using your tutorial KDSM-KORD and .pln flight plan. This time vectures gave me Rwy 32L which has all approach facilities. Everything worked a treat. However, one small bug. I again tried flying with otto in case there were any problems, and noticed that even when flying at 14000 ft the altimeter read 21.92 when atis gave me 21.91 trying to change this did not work so only way was to disengage otto. When descending below 10000 ft I selected otto again and could change it to the correct reading as given by approach.Thank you for all your assistance I going to enjoy myself for hours now. Thank you for a wonderful program and fantastic support.Happy holidays
December 13, 200223 yr Hi Brian,2191??? batten down the hatches it's going to be a big one!!!You did mean of course 29.91... Sometime RC gets finicky and insists on setting the pressure 1 point low. Go figure...Larryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 13, 200223 yr Hi Larry,You got it, thanks for the correction. :-)Yes I got two centre calls repeating the 29.91 and tried to change it whilst otto was in control. Only a small point!TTFN
