Handoffs to Center.....

Featured Replies

This isn't a huge issue but I'm not sure it has been brought up yet. I've noticed on the 2 flights I've done so far that ATC will say (depending on where you are) "Contact Washington Center...." but when I tune the Center frequency, it is actually "New York Center" that I contact. In this case New York Center seemed to be the correct one since I was flying toward that area. It also happened on Tutorial flight #1 (KDSM-KORD). Controller said "contact Minneapolis Center..." but it was actually Chicago center that I contacted. Otherwise, I'm still working through the manual and checking out the great features!

Eric, this was brought up in testing, but it was too late to fix with all the other things that had to be fixed. It's a matter of say, the airport being in one Center sector, but the aircraft is in another, so you are told the airport center, not the aircraft one. It'll get fixed...until then, as JD says, it's a feature. ;-)

I happens at several airports that sit on a Center boundary line. I have also seen it out of TPA, between Jax and MIA Center and out of GRB for MSP and ZAU Center.Actually, in the real world, it's quite similar. GRB, for example sits in MSP Centers airpsace but any releases going South are sent to Chicago Centers freq. :-lolLarry

I have had the time to make only a couple of flights. But on one from Seattle to Portland, Oregon, there was no mention at all of the identity of the center or approach. IE contact "Center" not Seattle Center, and contact "approach" not Portland Approach or whatever it would be. I am worrying that the centers are not referred to by name in some areas ie generic "center" and not very realistic?Greg

there is no "portland" approach. just approach. no one wanted to record all the airport names :-(there is a seattle center. i would be curious where you were (long/lat) where you heard center and not seattle center.actually, john burgess would be more interested :-lol

Sure would,By co-incidence I did an RC flight in that area yesterday and got 'Seattle centre' fine. All the best,John

maybe one of the pilots or controllers isn't saying it right. i checked cntr301.wav in 1 and i know i'm saying it. i might not be saying speed bird, but i am saying seattle center :-lol

I took "unable" out of all my folders. ;-)Rob
