Brightening Up The Night In FS2002

Featured Replies

Hi All,For those of you that have the Nvidia GeForce4 series of video cards you can brighten up the night so that it is as plain as day by doing the following. Right click on the desktop and bring up the display properties. Click on settings, advanced, Geforce, nview display mode, Device settings, color correction. You will find several sliders one of which is a gamma correction. By moving it to the right you can light up FS2002 night as much as you want. You can adjust the other sliders to work with your gamma correction. You have to be careful and play with your gamma adjustment or you will get it too bright for night or day. Mine is the GEforce Ti4400 with the 4072 drivers.Other video cards may have the same gamma adjustment buried somewhere. That I do not know. Cheers,Gary

Errrrmmmmm......why??Surely the whole point of it being night is that it's dark. If you need to see better instead of clicking on settings/advanced/geforce/nview etc etc etc you can click world/ time and season/ day.... hey presto, instant light (or am I missing something here??) ;)

I have trouble seening the taxiways and runways at night, :-cool expecially at some of the airports with less lighting. By adjusting the gamma on my video card a little I can then make out both of the above.Cheers,;) Gary

Gary,If you haven't already, turn your room lights off, draw the curtains and pretend you are in a real cockpit at night!;-)Keith cocker

And dont forget to put on the 'Anti-Intrusion' bar across your bedroom door so the wife can't get in! Works for me! :-lol Adds for realism when she pounds on the door. I divert to the nearest airfield, park, and jump out the window running for my life!If I haven't said so already guys, thanks for another wonderful release. Fantastic!

Geez, good thing they're not allowing guns in the cockpit yet or your wife could be in real trouble!I too wish to thank the RC team for a TERRIFIC product. All the keystroke combinations in ver2 seemed to kill the realism for me, but the convenient and nearly real-time interaction in ver3 is AWESOME. And, as always, your support team is open to suggestions and timely in responding. Thanks again!David

>Gary, >>If you haven't already, turn your room lights off, draw the >curtains and pretend you are in a real cockpit at night! >>;-) >>Keith cocker Little tough to do if your in actual daytime, but doing a nightflight in MSFS. Just dont get dark enuf. Maybe Ill try blackoutdrapes :-wink2 :-lolJim

Better than adjusting gamma and getting it out of calibration for other apps, apply a fix to the 2D view panel.cfg to make the view through the windshield brighter for runway and taxiway marker lights.Go over to the flightsim or fsgateway forums, follow the link to FSVC Tips and Tricks, and look under the VIEWS and LIGHTING topics. In panel.cfg, you will be adjusting the outside background view underlying the panel to full vertcal screen size, then adjusting the eyepoint (pilot seat height) to get the horizon back in the correct position.Works for me!
