Been getting to know and like RC3 more and more over the last two days. A couple of things I have come across.Several times I have been told to taxi into position an hold only to never receive further instructions. The last time I waited a full 20 minutes and read (thinking since I have the holding slider on full). If I go ahead and depart I do get told to contact departure as though the tower thought I should be departing.Next twice I have been told to contact departure (last time at ISP) and nothing is on frequency (11800). The Freq in Advdsp matches the tuned freq, but no dice and no departure. Finally I have the hold slider at max, but I have yet to get issued a hold. (After about 10 200+ nm flights) Perhaps there are other parameters that dictate if a enroute hold will be issued?I am really enjoying RC3 (despite my lust non-precision vectors ;))Advdsp is really chapping me bum though. When using aircraft like FSD's Cheyenne & Seneca, which have multiple panel displays, I tend to lose my Advdsp window and get the permanent green bar. Advdsp can

I can answer one of these but need help with the rest. As for taxi into posiiton and hold, RC waits for your heading to match the runway heading before it will issue take off clearance. Make sure your airport is listed in the r.txt file located in the main rc folder and that the rwy you were departing is listed there with the corrct heading. All the best...Larry

an addendum, make sure you are taking off the runway you were told to take off from :-)

as far as i know, tower never tells you departure's frequency. clearance delivery tells you the departure frequency.holding slider can be at 100%, but if your last checkpoint is not a vor, holding won't happen. holding won't happen if it is a terminal enroute flight. i don't think holding will happen if you have arrival notams on (i'd have to look at the code for that)

Thanks for the input. In the case of the Freq. CD had given me 11800 and tower had then told me to contact departure. The Advdsp window then also shows that freq as an option for contacting departure. I tune 11800 into all coms and just get the little static blip as though I am on the wrong freq. Its only occurred two times (forget where the first was, ISP was the second). Thanks for the Hold and Runway info. As it turns out I thought I had set my slider to 100%, but I must have slipped because it was down at 60%. I set it to 100% and got a hold on the next flight. Very realistic holding instructions, which makes for great practice. Prior to that I had a few flights that did not have a VOR as the final fix prior to the IAP.I will have to pay attention to the runway alignment and see if that
