December 17, 200223 yr I have used RC3 now for a week. It shows promise but I think we need to do something about the speech. It is slow and difficult to understand especially as FSK2 ATC breaks through in rapid and clear English. This brings me to the point of this post. If FSK2 can have clear ATC (if limited in functionality) why cannot RC3 be clear and use proper place names like FSK2 does in "Cleared to the Vancouver airport" not "Cleared to the Charlie - Pause - Yankee - pause - Victor - pause - Romeo" as RC3 does? Cannot the SDK for sound be used? :(
December 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member we tried synthetic voices for about a month. it was awful. the beta testers begged me to take it out. i didthere is a post here on how to speed up you slow controller speech. just search for it.as far as why we don't say vancouver? no one wanted to record 22000+ airport names. slackers! December 17, 200223 yr Hi.>I have used RC3 now for a week. It shows promise but I think >we need to do something about the speech. It is slow and >difficult to understand especially as FSK2 ATC breaks >through in rapid and clear English. There are at a minimum 20 posts and responses to fixing slow speech. Read through the forum, you'll see them. I assume you have WinXP, there's a specific thread on fixing the RC priority with it. For a comparison, go to the Flight Deck RCv3 page and listen to how it's supposed to sound.>This brings me to the >point of this post. If FSK2 can have clear ATC (if limited >in functionality) why cannot RC3 be clear and use proper >place names like FSK2 does in "Cleared to the Vancouver >airport" not "Cleared to the Charlie - Pause - Yankee - >pause - Victor - pause - Romeo" as RC3 does?>Cannot the SDK for sound be used? The speech SDK is meaningless until MS puts out an ATC SDK, whcih they said they have no intention of ever doing. It would require at least 20,000 individual airport names to be recorded. We're lucky to have the recordings we have.
December 17, 200223 yr Agree with all the comments and BTW I do not have XP - I use W2000. The point is FS2K did vocalize the name places worldwide and their speech is at conversational rate. So it can be done? I am asking if we could find out their method and use it?
December 17, 200223 yr We would love to find out their method and use it. But without the ATC SDK there's nothing to look at.If everyone would get all over MS to put of that SDK then maybe that would help.
December 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member since fs2002 atc is running under the same process as fs2002, they play nice.since rcv3 is a standalone program, it's process is seperate, and thus has to fight for processori would imagine that the same tip for xp would work with win2k JD Read my blog
December 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member can you change the priority manually?if that helps, i'm sure i can come up with the command line to work in win2k JD Read my blog
December 17, 200223 yr The same command that works in xp will work in 2k. just make sure your looking for your command.com in winnt/system32 . as long as you have installed 2k in its standard directory.
