December 18, 200223 yr Well, I just got it today actually and did my first flight from CYHZ to CYUL. I must say I am thoroughly impressed. It worked flawlessly through all phases of flight. I kept it simple for this first flight, just requesting the occasional alt change and deviation for weather.Tomorrow I get into the thick of it! I'm gonna try holding patterns - this is what I've been waiting for for some time. Also, I'm gonna look into getting FSATC to more completely integrate with RCATC. I got a bit confused when trying to get taxi instructions to the active. I must have been pressing wrong buttons or had it configured wrong. It did work great though for inflight FSATC chatter as well as the giving me taxi instruction to the gate at my arrival airport. I'll just read the manual section again.Anyway, hats off to JD and the RC crew. My first experience with RCv.3 was totally fulfilling - especially after flying the v2.2 samples over and over!Adam
December 18, 200223 yr Commercial Member glad your experiences were good.just curious, what sound card and os are you running? JD Read my blog
December 18, 200223 yr Oh and I forgot to mention...the controller voices were fluid and smooth. There was the VERY occasional pause when ATC was calling my a/c callsign. IMHO it's not even a consideration.I guess I got lucky. I'm using WinMe. I guess one benefit of using an old OS.Thanks, Adam
December 18, 200223 yr Hi JD, I just posted that I'm using WinMe. The sound card is a real cheapie: EZMedia 4 channel with a C-media 8738 chipset (if that means anything) @ $18.95 CAD.Other sys info:P4 2.4MSI 648Max (SIS648 chipset) mobo (this board will not allow any significant CPU overclocking unfortunately)GeForce4 TI4200 128MB512 DDR 333 RAMCrappy old 7200 20Gig WD HDD350Watt PS19" Daytek monitorAdamI was going to create a LAN to run RC and FSFlightMax on a separate computer and FS and ActiveSky on the main as I thought I'd have resource issues, but I really haven't seen any performance drop - well a bit when I go into some of those really heavy clouds created by ActiveSky.
