December 22, 200223 yr First off I like to say that I just love this program, it's one big improvement over FS2k2 ATC. My only complaint is controller slow speak, but I can live with it. One of the reason for me to buy this program is that I'm a mutiplayer junkie and like having ATC when flying with other pilots. Question is what should I expect out of RC v3 in terms of it recognizing the other player's planes and what should be the setting at to get the most out of the program in this format. Thanks Keep up the good work. Calvin Whillier
December 23, 200223 yr Commercial Member that is an interesting question. something i don't think any of us have tried. there will be no coordination between the multiplayers. each player will have to be running there own instance of radar contact.there will be some perceived coordination (assuming all players are running with the same weather). they will each be assigned the same runways for take off and landing.assuming they fly the same routes, the vectors to final will be the same.i believe there will be traffic advisories to the different players if they become to close horizontally or vertically.if you try it, let us know how it works out! December 24, 200223 yr Thanks for the reply JD. I was starting to wonder after the silence of my question. There are a couple of us that fly regularly together using RadarContact and in most instances we are using ActiveSky. Yes we are assigned same runways at takeoff and landing. Where the question comes from one time you are told to hold while the other player(s) plane is on the runway and holds you until they are clear of the runway. Whether this is coincidence or not I don't know but it seems RadarContact is recognizing the other plane because of the amount of time that you are held for. But other times it seems that it RC does not recognize the other plane at all.The other night while flying we deliberately tried to cause a near miss. RC did not recognize this at all, there was no vectors for any aircraft. I guess for some reason I had the the idea that RC v3 would recognize the other mutiplayers plane as a AI plane or am I thinking all wrong. Calvin Whillier
December 24, 200223 yr This is by far the best addition to the FS2K experience this year! Three cheers to the developers of RCv3. I spend most of my flying time in multiplayer and have experienced exactly the same response as LA_47. I wonder since there are no AI aircraft available when in multiplayer mode if Radar Contact can actually "see" the other players aircraft. No matter if it's sitting on the runway, or flying the same course, same altitude and weather, I have not found Radar Contact to identify the traffic or alert for a go around. This surely would enhance the multiplayers realism of flying if it recognized other multiplayers.Paul Pinsker
December 24, 200223 yr I haven't tried this, but I wonder if the AI Bridge utility would allow RC3 to see the multiplayer aircraft? It works great for the TCAS gauges, should be the same thing I would think.http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/AIBridge.zipHappy Hollidays!
December 24, 200223 yr Calvin, I've flown multiplayer using RC before and loved it. :-) I'd be interested if the AI Bridge would work too. AI planes and MP planes aren't the same thing, I think. RC can see the AI if they are within the distance/altitude guidelines in the FAR manual. You'll get traffic calls on them, so RC has that side of it covered. Now, if we could RC to "see" the MP planes, that would be a blast. I don't think RC can be changed to handle this but maybe a different workaround might be found. :-)Best, Rob
December 24, 200223 yr Thanks Mike for the idea, we gave it a try with no luck that the bad news, but on the up side we sure had fun crashing in to each other :) I hope someone has another idea because it sure is fun using rader contact in mutiplayer and if it could recognize would add another dimension to the experience.Calvin Whillier
