What triggers a goaround?

Featured Replies

I did a flight today from KBUF to KBOS. Leaving KBUF via rwy 23, I finally got handed off to center after 15 minutes or so who promptly asked if I was a little off course and then routed me back. That was okay.Upon arriving at KBOS, I was vectored to 33L. Just before touching down, tower said to go around. 15 minutes or so later, I was about to touch down and then was told to go around again. What criteria is RC3 using to determine that I should go around? There were AI aircraft h/s at the rwy, however, the rwy was clear of any traffic.-- Scotte

on the departure end, did you file a sid, or check the flex sid? when center clears you as filed, you should fly direct to the next checkpoint, not back towards the "green line" on the gps window.go arounds are totally random. unless you get tower tells you "he likes his steaks medium rare", which means your gear wasn't down.are you flying with widefs? is this a stock ms plane or a third party plane?

There wasn't a SID on the departure side. I'll have to look for the flex SID (and read the manual again)The gear was down in both cases. I was flying the PSS Dash 8 and not using wideFS.When I did KORD-KDTW and KDTW-KBUF, I didn't have any goarounds and then had the two back-to-back. On the second one, I landed anyways since I was running out of time. RC got a little lost from there (I expected to get chastised a bit). Neither of those has SIDs either.I need to play around a bit with it.-- Scotte
