December 27, 200223 yr Hi all,Recently I changed my weather generator to ActiveSky. I am now experiencing a problem I didint with FSMeteo. Most often it occurs while climbing. The controller will come on and say "Delta so and so, Altimeter 29.87". As soon as he's done, he'll come right back on and and give a new reading. This rapid fire delivery will repeat 7-8 times until it obviously quits at Flight level 180. Every reading the controller gives is different and is presumably being cuased by ActiveSky changing the weather. It has occured on nearly 80% of the flights while using ActiveSky. And while RC is right in informing me of the change, this is getting quite rediculous and is very unrealistic. Any ideas???Thanks,Michael
December 27, 200223 yr Hi Michael,Check your settings for 'Smooth Pressure Changes' on the FSUIPC technical tab.As far as I can remember this causes any change in pressure produced by Active Sky to be split into a set of little changes. Each time RC sees one of these little changes the ever alert controllers tell you :-(You need to play around with this setting (or to disable it entirely) until you find the best compromise for you.All the best,John
December 27, 200223 yr Thanks John,But I really dont feel like "playing" around with the doggone thing. Can you or someone else, suggest a number that works for you? No need to re-invent the wheel. Thanks again,Michael
December 27, 200223 yr Commercial Member i followed the recommendations in the activesky documentation on the fsuipc settings. i have not seen repeating altimeter calls. JD Read my blog
December 28, 200223 yr I've been BETA testing wxRE & this didn't show up till I got RC (Dec 24 & I've NEVER used FS atc!) Now I find RC controllers blurting out altimeter calls like its all they gotta talk about! Early days here yet (I am well underway in a round the world trip with RC & wxRE), I can only recreate the problem in the US (aka reporting stations VERY close together) if you add to this very slow change settings in FSUIPC then the RC controller goes "ape #####" & can't stop talking about anything else :-lol
December 28, 200223 yr Commercial Member i spend about 90% of my time in the US. last night i flew atlanta - birmingham, and go two appropriate altimeter calls. you are going to get an altimeter call for each .02 inches of mercury. if you are flying from one side of a front to another, and the way these weather programs "smooth" the altimeter, you could get plenty of calls.i'll keep an eye on this on my next trip JD Read my blog
