Disappointed about RC3 :-(

Featured Replies

Hi folks, yesterday i've got my copy of rc3. Installed it and just started the first adventure. Then the first chatter from rc3. What ist that ?? It sounds not even better as in rc2. Compared to the FS2002 standard atc-chatter it is not worth to talk about. The next point is that i have to switch to com2 to have rc3 and fs2002 chatter. And why must i give my request's first to the fs2002 atc and then to rc3 (as explained in the manual). I don't believe that it is like in reality...So i don't now exactly what to do. Maybe try again and have more luck..Cheers,Carsten

i'd like to know where in the manual it says you have to give your requests to fs2002 atc AND rc. that is definately WRONG. you shouldn't ask fs2002 atc for anythingthe section in the manual describes how to set comm2 to the fs2002atc so you can listen to it, but don't interact with fs2002atc. please! :-)when you say the chatter is better in version 2, can you elaborate on that a little bit? were you listening to the pre-recorded chatter or chatter that was being generated because there was no pre-recorded chatter in the area you were flying in.if so, that was a big complaint in version 2, flying around japan, and listening to usa chatter.help us understand better your disappointment

>i'd like to know where in the manual it says you have to >give your requests to fs2002 atc AND rc. that is definately >WRONG. you shouldn't ask fs2002 atc for anything >I think Carsten is probably referring to the section from Page 107 onwards, which relates to using FS2002 ATC to get progressive taxi instructions etc. In those circumstances you do need to do everything twice.Carsten, if you just want FS2002 chatter check the manual pages 105 and 106.Hope that helps.David Wickes

Hi jd,please don't take my words wrong. RC3 is a great product, but my first impression especially on the chatter was not the best one. I dont' meant that the chatter in rc2 was better (if i compare both rc3 and rc2, the chatter in rc3 is much better). my problem is that i like the chatter and speech of the default fs2002 atc more. The rc3 chatter sound every time "interrupted". I think this results of the various wav files the must be put together to get a complete "sentence". I've just played a few adventures and must say that the "fog" i saw yesterday lightens up a bit.So my fault of thinking i have to contact both (fs2002 atc and rc3)as solved (sorry for any inconvenience caused).I think i'll fly a bit more and will then post again, ok ?Thanks and best wishes from germany,Carsten

Hi David, yes you are right. But i think it was my fault. The Tip with the fs2002 chatter worked. Thanks !Maybe next time i should read the manual more careful.Carsten

there are two posts at the top of this forum, one for xp one for win 9x.follow those steps, and the speech will be much more "flowing"

Hi JD,thanks for the tip. The Chatter is now fine ! Like in real world. GREAT !One last question: All sounds out of rc3 are very silent. The fs2002 standard sounds are much louder. It's very hard to understand what my copilot says and/or e.g. the controller. Can i pump up the volume of the rc3 files ??Thanks,Carsten

pump up the main volume on your machine, and then lower the fs2002 sounds to make them more realisticso did we turn that frown up side down?
