RCV3 and manual acknowledgement

Featured Replies

Hi All, I've recently started using RCV3 (it was a Christmas present) and prefer to acknowledge messages personally rather than automatically. I find that if RCV3 tells me something and a chatter file gets in before I have a chance to reply, the controller will not wait until the channel is clear before 'timing me out' but may immediately repeat the command as soon as the chatter file finishes. Surely the timer should be held off until the channel is clear and I have a chance to acknowledge it? Thanks for an interesting add-on.Colin Begg

pressing 1 or 7 should shut the chatter up, and immediately make the acknowledgementare you running at 2x or 4x?

No, I never run at 2 or 4 x (real planes can't). Also, real pilots would be in bother if they cut in on other pilots speaking. The 'listen up now' timer should be stopped while chatter files (or generated chatter like I heard in Alaska) are running.I'm going to try upping the priority (I run Win 2000, not XP/95/98/ME, but I think the XP instructions may work). I'll see if the problem remains. It can get quite annoying in busy airspace where lots of chatter is heard and the controller is telling me lots of things.Colin Begg

well it might not be polite, but i have no idea when the canned chatter is going to finish, so i don't know when to start the timer :-)maybe turn the chatter down a notch or two
