January 12, 200323 yr Hi friends, every time i start a new flight or before landing, when asking for Wx report, visibility is always "6"!!!!!!!!In FSMeteo Metar Decoder Visibility is 9999 both in local and destination data (strange isn't it?)What does this means? All other data are correct, clouds layers, wind, QNH, Temperature, Dew Point. Only visibility is sticked at "6". But, what does "6" means???FSMeteo v5.2 and FSUIPC v2.95 here; i deleted both FSUIPC.ini and FSMeteo.ini and restarted FS2K2 but had no luck at all :-(At this point i really don't know what to do.Can any kind soul PLEASE help me?Thanks in advance

January 12, 200323 yr It means visibility 6 miles. You have to remember that RC3 is an American program and, despite some cosmetic changes for the rest of the world such as 'QNH' instead of 'altimeter', it uses the US format for weather reporting. Whilst most of us use metres and kilometres for visibility reports, the US still uses miles. Now I'm just guessing here but 9999 in met reports means a visibility equal to or greater than 10km. Now the nearest equivalent to 10km in whole miles is 6 miles. So, whereas a European ATIS would report "visibility greater than 10Km" RC3 uses the nearest US equivalent of "6" (miles). As I said, just a guess but try setting a visibility of 8Km and see if RCv3 reports the equivalent "visibility 5".Pete
January 13, 200323 yr Hi,i emailed the author of FSMeteo about this trouble and it told me same thing.9999 is for 9,9 Km and so ATIS tell me "visibility 6" (6 SM).But another airport had no visibility value in METAR and it was CAVOK so the visibility was be set to 9999 as i didn't enable the extended visibility option. Now i ask, how do i enable "extended visibility option"? is this a FSMeteo or FSUIPC setting? Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
January 13, 200323 yr I don't really know but on the 'Visibility' tab of FSUIPC, you'll find an item "Random extend METAR maxima" which I guess should be checked and in the 'Options' section of FSMeteo, there's an item "Disable Extended Visibility" which I assume should be un-checked. Play with these settings and see how you get on.Pete
