January 16, 200323 yr RC3 is a really great addition. After using it for many hours, I have just two points on which I would appreciate comments. 1) Is it possible to disable the course correction feature? Periodically, sometimes for no apparent reason, ATC advises my flight is off course and gives a heading to fly "until suitable for navigation". The heading is ususally close to 180 degrees in the wrong direction. After admonishment for noncompliance, the instruction is repeated indefinitely. The only cure seems to be to cancel IFR.2) What causes, and is it possible to avoid, instances of repeated altimeter settings given in rapid succession? Once or twice in any given flight ATC gives a series of settings - perhaps half a dozen - within a minute or two.
January 17, 200323 yr Commercial Member 1) sounds like you missed checkpoint. does this happen during a departure procedure, or enroute? just request direct the next checkpoint, and the complaining will stop.2) this is caused by external weather programs "smoothing" the pressure change. you can adjust that smoothing to be a bigger amount per interval. i have also tweaked the pressure change notification code so it won't happen. that fix will come out shortly with a point release. January 17, 200323 yr The heading instruction seems to happen enroute. I am asked if I am on an airway and told I don't appear to be. Then, without more, the heading is given. It has happened when I am bang on course and been told to fly the wrong way. In any event, I will try requesting the next waypoint and trust that will put an end to it.As for the altimeter, I will adjust the smoothing and watch for the update. Many thanks.
January 17, 200323 yr Just requesting the next checkpoint doesn't solve the base problem. As JD says, it sounds as if you are missing a waypoint. When ATC tells you you are off course, where does RC say the current waypoint is?Also, what is the distance between waypoints?
January 17, 200323 yr I don't think I have been missing anything, but I will have a look the next time it happens. Thanks.
