Some Help Please

I`ve only just started using PIC 767 and have managed a few flights including using the FMC.I decided to do some practice landing and started having problems.I`m coming in at about 4500 at 180. I`m dead in line with the runway from about 3 miles out. The ILS is set in nav1 correctly. When I press the AP button the aircraft doesn`t line up at all. The glide slope seems to be correct but that may just be a fluke. In a normal flight from a to b, everything works fine.I`ve worked out that when practising, I`m not doing something that I am doing in a normal flight. But I can`t figure out what.Hope someone can help.Cheers

Crashproof,Nowhere in your text do you mention Radar Contact. Perhaps you meant to post in the 767PIC Forum?Anyway, to make an autoland with the 767 you need to be below the glideslope when you engage the AP. After engaging the AP (CMD button) press APP and providing you are below the glideslope the aircraft will autoland. At 4,500ft you should be no closer to the airport than 16 miles when you do this. Any closer and you will be above the GS and autoland won't work.Cheers,

Thanks Ray. Red face for me I`m afraid. I did mean to post on PIC forum. The really embarrassing bit is that I posted again, this time on PIC forum and asked them why my post had been deleted!Oh God! Please make today go away!

Thanks Ray. My face is very red at the moment. I did indeed mean to post on the PIC forum. The bad news is I asked them why my post had been deleted!

Yes Ray, I was obviously too high. (My plane - not me).I`ve got Radar Contact and PIC and I love them both.I`ve put a big notice over my computer `Engage eyes before posting`
