March 14, 200323 yr This happens using my FSNavigator flight plan from SFO to LAX landing on runway 24L. Using both PSS 747 and Airbus. During approach, level at 10,000 feet into LAX, Center says "United 55, contact Arrival on 128.5". Copilot responds and contacts Arrival, "United 55 with you at 10,000". Arrival comes back with "roger, contact Arrival on 125.05". Copilot contacts Arrival with "United 55 out of 10,000 for 7,000". No clearance to descend was recieved prior the copilot's transmission. No problem getting to the requested altitude, but the clearance to descend is somehow blocked out. The same thing occassionally happens on other flights, but I did not document them as above.RegardsRichR
March 14, 200323 yr Commercial Member i've never seen this, and would really like to duplicate it. are you saying at 40 miles from the airport you are told to contact approach, and when you contact approach, he tells you to contact approach again, right there, 40 miles out?can you send me a dat file, saved at 41 miles out? if you don't know how to save a dat, there is a post by scott campbell around here that tells you exactly what to do, and what to send to mejd JD Read my blog
March 15, 200323 yr jdThanks for the reply.I did a search on this site for info on how to save a dat file, but was unable. Maybe you could direct me closer. I flew the flight plan again and had the same results. I was handed to LA Center on 131.5 and was directed to descend to 12000. I was directed to descend to 10000 at 38 mi from LA and was level at 10000 at the Ventura VOR approx 30 mi from the LA VOR. I was told to contact Arrival on 128.5 at 6 mi from the Santa Monica VOR and 9 mi from the LA VOR. The CoPilot reported level at 10000 and requested runway 24L. Within 2 mi was told to contact Arrival on 125.25. The copilot replied out of 10000 for 7000, even though I hadn't left 10000. Arrival then requested descent to 6000. At no time did Arrival on 128.5 direct a descent to 7000. The rest of the vectors for the approach and the ILS went very nicely. The critique after the flight said good job so I guess there was no altitude bust. RichR
