RC suddenly plays only strange noises ...??? HELP NEEDED!!

Featured Replies

I started FS and RC and wanted to start with ATIS, just like any time before. But... RC only plays a strange hissing or noise. No voices anymore. I don't know what happened as I didn't change anything with my settings.Any clue???Thank you!Sam

what has changed on your machine? any new software installed? new sound drivers? directx 9.0a? if you haven't changed rc, and rc is behaving differently, something else must have changed.jd

Thank you for your reply, JD!True! I have directx 9.0a installed, which hasn't caused any difficulties afterwards. Should I go back to directx 8?Rgds, Sam

i think directx 9.0a is irreversiblejd

Right! Heard of that as well. However, I reinstall XP with SP1 and go through all additional updates again, except for Directx9.0. I will see how that goes.Thank, Sam

I managed to remove Directx9.0a, however, I still get that scrambled sound when starting RC. I am wondering, if complete reinstallation of RC would help....Rgds, Sam

just when rc starts? or throughout your flight?

Exactly, just when RC started.... however, after reinstalling RC completely, it seems to work again!!! Now, I have to make sure not to forget all patches that came out after the receipt of the original disk. I will check your homepage.I am delighted and will verify with my tutorial flight! So far, thank you very much, JD! FS doesn't make sense to me without RC.Sam

It sounds as if you turned auto-tune off. There can be a problem with this at times.Just guessing of course.

Thank you, Scott! Where would I find that switch? However, after I reinstalled RC everything seems to be solved! Thank you very much!Sam

RC interface. Options/Tune on contact

Yep, found it! Thank you very much, Scott!Kind rgds, Sam

i had a problem with RC3 slowing and stuttering, especially w/higher-framerate planes like anything flight1 and PSS. changing the priority to "realtime" seems to have solved the problem. my box is a generic athlon 1.4/512mb ram/geforce 3 32 mb.sean hall

Same setup as you, Sean. All manner of add ons running as well and smooth as silk except for a few poly hungry sceneries.Best, Rob
