Flight Level Calls Below Transition Altitude

Featured Replies

I'm curious to know if it is normal procedure for ATC to issue intructions to a pilot to climb to "Flight level XX" (which RC3 does) vice using "XX Thousand" while below transition altitude.Regards,Nick Anzelino

you wouldn't say 19,000 - if your transition level is 180 regardless of what altitude your plane is at. listen to clearance delivery. he doesn't say "...expect 23,000...", but rather "...FL230..."jd

I agree 100% with you, however ATC does say "Climb and maintain FL06 expect FL100 10 minutes after departure"Nick

then you have your transition level set to 60 (fl060) or below. if your transition level was set to 180 (fl180) the statement would read "climb and maintain 6000 expect 10,000"all depends on the settings on the controller's pagejd

Thanks for pointing that out to me. It's all good now. BTW, fantastic program!! My wife's not liking it too much though if you know what I mean ;)Nick

Get her invovled. Have ner make a controller voice set. ;-)
