May 31, 200323 yr Just installed RC 3.0.....first time user, just purchased it. Immediately installed 3.01 patch.Running Windows XP pro.Toshiba laptopNvidia GeForce 4 420I've tried several different sequences, but can not get this to work. I have developed a flight plan, I start FS2002, load the flight plan, start AdvDisp...latest version....., start RC, load flight plan.....everything seems okay....."Start" RC, go back to FS2002....get a message in the text window to press 1 for weather, 0 for main....FS2002 completely locks up.....except I can get to the alt-menus....but not controls work at all. When I put my cursor over the text window, I CAN NOT enter anything....seems to ignore input or is locked up.When I close RC, I get a black screen in FS....hear the engines running and all....but no visual at all.Help....please....Thanks,Wes
June 1, 200323 yr Commercial Member is the advdisp window docked to a panel on the plane? you don't want it running in a window.you don't enter keystrokes into the advdisp window. those are entered into the fs2002 window, just like ".", "b", "g", etcsounds like everything is installed correctlydoes it happen on every plane, or just one?jd JD Read my blog
June 1, 200323 yr I "lock" the window in place....is that docked??fs2002 does not seem to get any keystrokes directly....I've tried to start engines, etc. to see if I can and it does not seem to work. I can hit alt and get the top menus though....then access the drop-downs.also.....using microsoft force feedback joystick...usb.Have tried it on two planes.....does not work on either.W
June 1, 200323 yr Commercial Member and if you're not running rc but fsuipc and advdisp are running, you can start your engines? JD Read my blog
June 1, 200323 yr Started FSstarted advdisp.....Not sure about fsuipc....it shows on the FS menu-modules, but there is no check mark next to it like there is for advdisp....clicked on fsuipc, could not find an obvious "start" or anything, but pressed "okay"loaded the flight plan, used the one I created from pages 48-65 in RC manual.started engines....everything is fine.loaded RC....loaded flight plan."started" RCBack to FS.....no sound, controls all locked, no sound, etc....W
June 1, 200323 yr Hi Wes,Please check your versions of FSUIPC and Adv Display. FSUIPC = 2.975AdvDisplay = 2.02These are the current versions. What flight planner are you using? If FS Navigator or Nav3 are you exporting your plan to FS2002 format? Both FSUIPC and Adv Display are started automatically. I'm a little confused when you say you start Adv Display. That should start automatically when you click on Start RCv3.Please try your flight again but this time click your mouse anywhere on the screen except on top of Adv Display. FS2002 might not have focus and this may be the problem.
June 1, 200323 yr Hi Wes,Your problem could be related to the caching of wav files in FS.Using notepad, Open the fs2002.cfg file (located in your fs2002 directory)Look for the text "CACHE_WAV_FILES=1" and change it to "CACHE_WAV_FILES=0" (no quotes)Reboot and try againDavid
June 1, 200323 yr Those are the versions which I have installed.I am using FS Navigator....I saved in FS2002 format....I tried using the FS planer too.....same lack of results. When I say I start AdvDisp, initially when I started FS, there was no check mark next to AdvDisp under the Modules menu. I had to put a check mark there so it would load.I tried clicking the mouse on the FS screen, away from AdvDisp....no difference.Thanks.....I really appreciate the help.W
June 1, 200323 yr Wes,If you are having problems getting anything to happen in FS, change the RC key assignments to CTRL-1, CTRL-2, etc, or Shift-CTRL-1, Shift-CTRL-2, etc. You can't use RC's default 1, 2, etc since it overrides FS.Sound problems: What sound chip are you using? If you are using anything like an SB PCI128 chip, you can't run multiple programs needing sound. You need to upgrade the sound chip, or use a PCMCIA sound card. Anything that has multi-channel sound - like the SB Live! or Audigy on a desktop.
June 2, 200323 yr I'll try changing key assignments.I really can't change the chip...this is a Toshiba lap top Satellite Pro P4 2.2 ghz...its only about 6 mo. old.I am running a high res....1280*1024, does that matter??Also, looked in my RCV30 folder...there is a file called RCWavUtil.exe I tried to run this and get an error indicating RICHTX32.OCX is not registered or is missing....Does this mean anything??W
June 2, 200323 yr The RCWavUtil.exe file is used when you want to record your own pilot and/or controller files. It does not come into play when running Radar Contact. You can try dropping the screen resolution down a few notches but I don't think it will make a big difference.Since Adv Display does not stay checked on the modules menu I'm wondering whether you may have a bad installation of FS2002 or Radar Contact. If it is not too much trouble try uninstalling and reinstalling both FS2002 and Radar Contact.
June 10, 200322 yr Uninstalled everything and then re-installed....seems to be working....thanks for the help.W
