June 29, 200322 yr Can one be on the groung before loading a saved situation or must one be in the air?I use Dreamfleet 737 and Just Flight 777 with FMC and advdisplay on a separate monitor. Will RC save all these settings? For example: Can one fire up a 'cold' PC, load weather, FS, and load a saved situation from RC and expect to be where one saved without first becoming airborne?Hope I've explained myself clearly.David
June 29, 200322 yr Commercial Member if i understand your question, yes.remember rc, loads the situation, not you. rc will set the fs environment exactly like it was when you saved (i'm not sure if all the windows will be on the right monitors), and the same rc controller will be saying the same thing, when you load a rc dat file JD Read my blog
June 29, 200322 yr Thanks Darren. I'll try that and see how I get on. Will keep you posted as to how it goes.CheersDavid
June 29, 200322 yr No luck I'm afraid.Loaded fs and placed Dreamfleet 737 at gate at Cork airport - EICK (my home airport).Loaded active sky weather, refreshed wx data and then pressed fly now on fs.Started RC and clicked Load flight. Chose saved situation.Program reads 'loading FS state' but program stalls with blue slider half way across.Any ideas?David
June 29, 200322 yr Commercial Member what is the rc dat you are trying to load? there should be four files, with the same name, saved at the same time. if the dat is called x, you should have rcv3savedx.dat, x.rc3fs2002flightmyfltsx.wx and x.fltthey all have to exist, and they all have to be from the same "save"jd JD Read my blog
June 30, 200322 yr Yes all files are present and correct:flight/myflights to cork fl150.wx 1kb to cork fl150.flt 9kbtcv30/saved to cork fl150.dat 777kbTwo observations. I downloaded and installed v3.1. Might this have something to do with file structure?Secondly I am suspisious that this feature only supports FS default aircraft. Not Dreamfleet or Justflight which I use the majority of the time. The developers might like to check this one out.Could someone go through the process of loading saved flights step by step. Having loaded fs should one click on the fly now button before loading RC and the saved situation?Perhaps I am not doing something very simple - which is often the case!!CheersDavid
June 30, 200322 yr David,I would personally remove the start-up screen and default to fly now. However, all RC does is call up FS's own save flight function. RC does not do anything about the FS state but that. Can you load the saved flight yourself? In FS's "Select a Flight" does the flight load?As for file structure changes, yes, things dyd change between 3.0 and 3.1. Since you are having a problem, it's a good idea to set it/them up again and save again.I don't save start positions with RC. I only have mid-flight saves. Otherwise I just save my start position in FS only.
June 30, 200322 yr Commercial Member send me the .wx, .flt, .dat, .rcv3 files and i'll load them. i should be able to figure out exactly where the load is stopping.jd JD Read my blog
June 30, 200322 yr Thanks guys. Just read your mail. It's 2237z here now and after an evenings fishing and a few whiskeys I will respond tomorrow!!Many thanks for your interest and time. Be in touch tomorrow.CheersDavid
July 1, 200322 yr Good morning. A fresh start. I loaded saved situation from FS saved flights and aircraft started up in correct position but 2000 feet too high. Also engines, auto pilot, flight director, and auto throttle were all off. I then started RC loaded same saved situation and the only change was that I got engine sounds (even though they were still idle) plus clouds. The FMC was also off which meant that my flight plan was lost.I imagine the problem has to be with the add on aircraft (Dreamfleet). As requested I have attached the RC saved files. Please don't spend too much of your time on me as it's not 'the end of the world'. I was just trying to recall some situations from memory from the days when I was actually paid to fly one of these things. My younger son inherited the flying bug and now flys a 777 under the speedbird banner. Hence my reasons for also flying that simulation. Father can follow him across the globe and keep a check on him!!This is a great hobby which has given me hours of pleasure in retirement. It is remarkable how realistic it has beome in such a short time. Guys like you add to the enjoyment.Best WishesDavidps can't seem to attach the dat file. Can I do this separately?
