July 3, 200322 yr JD or ScottI have just recently made a couple of flights into Calgary CYYC with RC310 and have found that the final approach altitude was assigned at 3700ft for the 1st flight and 4000ft for the second flight before intersecting glide slope. Calgary airport elevation is at 3557ft so it appears that wrong altittudes are being assigned on final and was working fine in RC301. Can you confirm or do you have any suggestions as to why this may be happening.Off the topic from above, I know that Radar Contact is designed for IFR flights from point "A" to point "B" but I find that every once in a while I will practice doing circuits. Is their a way to set up Radar Contact to handle circuit calls at a controlled airport. Calling takeoff, downwind, base, final and touch & go's if required, I now that if this was implemented that I would be using Radar Contact all the time and not just for cross country flights. July 4, 200322 yr Grant,Check the a2.txt file for Calgary. See what you have in it for altitude. I have 3556. But I haven't gone there in a while. What are you flying and how far out were you when turned to final?Secondly, you can set your alternate airport to your departure airport. Then as you do the option, pull up, declare a missed approach, and when asked your interntions, you can either request return to departure, or go to alternate 1 (which you set to your departure airpot). When you land, make sure you don't slow to below 15 knots before you take off.You can go back and forth over and over as long as you don't contact Ground and you perform a missed approach. There are ways to trick RC into VFR, but play with those for now.
July 4, 200322 yr ScottHere is the line in my a2.txt file for Calgary, looks like 3556ft.CYYC,Calgary Intl,n51:06:49.972,w114:01:13.000,-17 , 3556 , 12675 , 4324Flying Cessna 410 first flight and Piper Cheyenne second flight, 12-15 miles from the marker turn and intersect ILS, decend and maintain 4000ft. If I recall both landing where approved for the ILS on Runway 28, if this helps.Grant BeachWindow XP ProIntel D850MV MotherboardIntel Pentium 4 2.00 GHz 1000 Mb RAMATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 MbVMAX Flight Systems AFCS III Yoke USBCirrus Ruder Pedals USBFlightLink Twin Engine PQ USBGoFlight GF-AC Cockpit Control System2x GF-P8, 2x GF-T8, 1x GF-45, 3x GF166A, 1x GF-MCP & 1x GF-LGTMicroSoft FS2002 / X-Plane 7.00 / Fly! July 4, 200322 yr Grant,I can confirm your problem. I was given a final altitude of 5100' for the straight-in 28 approach, but after a go-around, I was given 3000' final. So I'll get the info to JD.
July 5, 200322 yr ScottThanks for looking into and confirming the problem I was encountering in RC31. Looking forward to the fix.Grant Beach
July 7, 200322 yr Scott,I've had a similar problem flying into Bogata (SKBO)On finals with NOTAMS enabled everything was fine, but after a missed approach, I was cleared to 4000ft. The field is at 8359ft.I asked for a visual to get around the problem and land.RegardsMark
July 7, 200322 yr Mark,I have a dat for JD for when he gets back and I'm sure it's a simple error that he'll take care of fairly quickly. But right now, he's taking a well-deserved holiday.Wish I were. ;-)
