July 9, 200322 yr Commercial Member As we wait for July 29th, pondering what will and won't be in FS9, i think it is important to remember where this all began. This summer i took my family to the outer banks of north carolina, to the wright brothers monument/museum.These two gentleman were very gifted, and their story fascinating. i urge you to spend some time, learning about who orville and wilbur were.i've taken some pictures, hope they capture the essence of what was accomplished.first the replica of the 1903 flyer, if you notice the man and engine are not perfectly centered. to offset the extra weight, one wing is 4 inches longer than the otherhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/030703_28.jpgnext the plaque, indicating where the first flight, became airborne. wilbur actually one the coin toss for the first flight, but he stalled it, and orville went down in historyhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/030703_30.jpgi stood at the take off point, and shot this picture. each marker shows where the first, second, third and fourth flights landed.http://www.jdtllc.com/images/030703_29.jpgthe last shot, is the memorial, at the top of big kill devils hill, where many of the gliders were tested and proven. this shot does not due justice to the height of the dunehttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/030703_33.jpg JD Read my blog
