Perhaps a dumb question, but...

Hi friends, since i installed v3.1b when on short final i'm not cleared anymore to 4000 ft. as before but most of the times i'm cleared to 2000 ft. instead (i usually fly in Europe). Is that a normal behaviour? Sometimes 2000 seems to be a very low altitude.Anyway i say it again, this is a dumb question, so forgive ...cheesLuigi ;-)

it's a little low, i'm working on itjd

I seem to get 2000' most of the time too, but almost never request short final.Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/sbird.jpgOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo[p]AMD 2800+ Barton, Gigabyte GA-7NNXP nForce2, 1Gig PC3200 Dual Channel DDR 400MHz, Gainward 128 MB GF4-4200, SB Audigy[/p]

>I seem to get 2000' most of the time too, but almost never>request short final.Hi Paul, what you mean? When handed off to approach they say: expect vectors to rwy....Then if i'm happy with that rwy (i usually also check FS2k2 ATIS) i follow approach instructions until loc interception, if not i request an alternate rwy and again follow approach vectors to loc interception. This is the simplest way i fly most of my landings. Can you please explain?cheersLuigi ;-)

...As I'm told to make turn for final until LOC intercept with a descend and maintain circa 2000' until capturing glideslope (obviously dependent on field MSL), which is much later than the situation you describe. A descent from 20nm out to 2000' seems a little early and low to me - especially since I used to get somewhere around the 3500-4000' before the 3.1 beta.Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/sbird.jpgOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo[p]AMD 2800+ Barton, Gigabyte GA-7NNXP nForce2, 1Gig PC3200 Dual Channel DDR 400MHz, Gainward 128 MB GF4-4200, SB Audigy[/p]

Yes Paul, the situation is the same. What i do not understand is: me too never request short final, it's full automatic from approach to tower at final airport. So i do not understand when you say you never request short final...Luigi ;-)

OK Luigi, let me quote you:>when on short final...if you don't request Short Final, this comment is a little misleading don't you think?Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/sbird.jpgOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo[p]AMD XP2800+ Barton, Gigabyte GA-7NNXP nForce2, 1Gig Crucial PC3200 Dual Channel DDR 400MHz, Gainward 128 MB GF4-4200, SB Audigy[/p]

Yes Paul,it was my fault; i meant on short final w/o having asked for short final (Ctrl-Shift-5 i think...) but as a final position before landing. So i didn't understand why you wrote "but almost neverrequest short final"Luigi ;-)
