Build 2178 and stall on autopilot ?

Featured Replies

I'm not at all sure it is a problem with the newest RC v3.1 build 2178, but on my first test flight, the 737-400 autopilot ceased to work properly when approaching FL330. It rather pitched the plane upwards and into a stall. I can't remember having experienced anything similar before. I tried to request a lower level (290) but same problem there.Any hints - either RC related or not ?

i don't see how it could be rc. was the co-pilot flying?

Harald,If you're talking about the default 737, then there is a problem with the balance of the aircraft. If you weren't at Mach .74 by the time you climbed past FL280, then the plane has a tendancy to become unstable. Make sure you reduce your climb rate and keep speed as you climb above FL280.Also, are you using any program to change the aircraft's weight? This issue is also in other 737's that are unbalanced or overweight.

JD and Scott,Thanks for your comments. I think I was doing two bad things at the same time, having too much fuel (weight) and an excessive VSpeed setting at high altitudes. The autopilot of the (default) 737-400 obviously couldn't cope.A new attempt with proper fuel and VSpeed went OK.So, definely no blame on RC ! I'll continue to explore the new AI awareness features.
