July 30, 200322 yr I have built a flight from ENGM (Norway) to KEWR using NAV3, then I loaded the plan into RC3.01. I started the flight with PIC767 using exactly the same flightplan and flying with VNAV and LNAV engaged. After resuming own navigation at FL230 and crossing my first waypoint, the RC controller starts to ask me to fly e.g. heading 315 directly to my next filed waypoint. The problem is just that I am already flying this HDG and there is no significant crosswind. I get asked the same several more times and even choosing "direct next WPT" causes exactly the same behaviour. The controller asks me to fly the heading I already am on. the only solution is to declare a deviation for weather...I have never seen this with RC2.1. What am I missing here?
July 30, 200322 yr Commercial Member how far away is the next checkpoint. try to space your checkpoints out about 200 miles apart. i'm aware of the problem, and trying to fix it (when checkpoints are very distant from each other) JD Read my blog
July 30, 200322 yr no matter if the next WPT is 60 nm ore 200 away. I even tried to get a direct clearance to the entry waypoint at the Canadian border about 2000 nm away. I had choosen a 100 degr. variation allowance in the options menu, but I was again asked to fly the heading which would lead directly to the waypoint (ignoring great circle navigation)
August 3, 200322 yr One more update: When I made my last final to KEWR 04L I was aked to go around. I did it at once and was headed straight away the runway. There were only calm winds. The RC controller asked me three times to ask the heading I always was on! When he gave me a new heading to follow, he again asked me to times to hold that heading. Thus, no waypoints, but continous reminders to hold a heading I already was flying??
