August 22, 200421 yr Does anyone know how to get the flight to start at a gate instead of on the runway? If I edit the gates in FS, then I am at the gate, but it fries the flightplan. If I set the same gate in the Controller Options, it seems to have no effect and I am still on the runway. Second, is there a way to link to the "Active" runway or do you just have to look it up and specify it when you are building the flightplan (more realistic I admit). Thanks
August 22, 200421 yr Commercial Member rc doesn't care where you start. you can tell fs to start at the gate, by making it where you start in the flight plan. just choose gate d12 instead of active runway in the choose arrival airport screenrc only uses the gate field, for dialog purposes ("lear 4149 at delta 12, ready for taxi", "lear 4149 taxi to alpha 3...."). i'm not going to position you at the gate.what do you mean, "link" to the active?what does CISSP - stand for, just curious.jd JD Read my blog

You should not select the runway in the control panel unless you specifically want to train on that runway. RC controllers will give you the best runway for the winds. You can request another. As for your start position, I assume you are loading the plan into the FS planner. If you're using FS2002, you can turn the auto-move off in FSUIPC. If you're using FS9, just answer "No" to the question "Move aircraft to starting airport?"It is also a good idea to not have the runway in the plan since you have no clue what the winds will be. But if you do, I think RC ignores that (I know it ignores the gate). If all else fails, load the planner, then slew back to the gate, then start RC. Ot just slew back to the gate after starting RC and before contacting anyone. RC won't care.
