Speech Recognition

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm looking for the ultimate ATC addon, and Radar Contact looks like the best one, but after ATC simulator 2 I am a bit spoiled using my voice instead of the keyboard. I saw in a thread from awhile ago that you did not plan to include speech rec in version 4. I would like to plead with you to reconsider. It's actually not THAT hard to implement- I wrote a voice buddy type program in a couple of days. I would add SO MUCH to the experience it can't be measured. Believe me, it would be worth it to spend an hour training the speech engine. I believe XP comes with the speech engine built in as well.

i understand where you're coming from. i wish speech recognition was advanced enough. i know when i played with it a couple of years ago, even with training, it was at best 80%. kind of frustrating trying to contact tower, and you have to repeat yourself 3 or 4 times. there were certain phrases it just never got.i'm sure it's better.but it's a little more complicted than just recognizing words. there is syntax, when certain phrases are appropriate, when they are not appropriate, what to do in those situations, etc.i hope the day comes when i can say "asheville tower, lear 41rc ready for clearance to atlanta hartsfield"but there will be versions after 4.x, and i have an open mind....jd
