October 16, 200520 yr 1.When you are cleared to begin your descent does RC4 tell you what runway to expect with your STAR.. I fly into Toronto and the STARS have different speed altitue restrictions based on the active runway. 2.How good are the voice recordings in RC4. Do you record entire sentences or just words and piece them together. 3.Does Radar Contact make decisions based on weather conditions in fs2004. Such as the appropriate approach like CAT111 or CAT11. Does Radar contact vector you around storms cells? Can you ask for like a 10 degree deviation to the right.4.Do the controllers relay any more information than the boring default fs9.. Does radar contact give breaking action, rvr reports.. Do they tell give you the latest wind reports on the ground before you are cleared to land. Tell you to slow down to your final approach speed.. Tell you you're following heavy jet traffic on short final.. Tell you you're number 2 for the field, don't cross the centerline there's traffic on the north parallel5.Can you end up waiting for clearance to takeoff if the RVR drops below the minimum value...6.Can you declare an emergency and get priority to land and other traffic will be taken off the approach.. Ie a fuel emergency..7.What does Microsoft need to do for you to be able to taxi aircraft on the ground in the next version.Lots and lots of questions but i have the utmost respect for what you guys are doing and giving us flight simmers. Excellent job!!
October 16, 200520 yr Commercial Member 1) http://www.jdtllc.com/faq.htm#12 ;-) added it yesterday.2) i think they are better than v3. we have many more voice sets, thanks to all the volunteers that recorded. there all using v4 now ;-) words and phrases. 3) no to your specific question. but clearances at non controlled airports are done on the ground or in the air depending on the weather. enroute holds are based on weather, and number of runways (it's actually an option. holding always on, always off, or weather)yes you can ask for weather deviations4) breaking action? i'd have to say no. but if the pressure changes below the transition level, you will be notified. you will hear updated wind reports when you are cleared for take off and landing. unfortunately, i don't know a heavy ai from a regular ai. so no to the heavy question. you will be told what number you are for takeoff. not sure about the last question.5) no6) yes7) not sure what the question is.most of these questions are answered here:http://www.jdtllc.com/faq.htmhttp://www.jdtllc.com/documentation.htmi'm sure you'll have more questions after you read all that :-)jd JD Read my blog
October 17, 200520 yr 1. When beginning your descent in RC4, is approach the 1st controller to tell you what runway to expect or do the previous controllers tell you what runway to expect. I understand that the STAR ends at approach but when flying a STAR you need to know what runway you are using because the speed and altitude restrictions are different based on what the expected runway is. The STAR has different restrictions based on what runway is in use. I need to know what portion of the STAR to fly based on what runway is anticipated. If i am told the runway by Approach i don't know how the STAR should be flown. Its too late then. Atleast this is how the STARS into CYYZ work.2. Whats the technical reason why you can't provide taxi instructions, i'm guessing you don't know the airports scenery we have installed??3. What is the impact on framerates in RC4?Again thanks for the super fast response
October 18, 200520 yr Commercial Member 1) about 70 miles out, i look at what the ai are doing at the arrival field. if there are landing ai, i will choose their runway, so you will be "going with the flow". if there are no ai landing, then i will pick the best runway based on the weather. at that point i will determine if this will be a nearside (no downwind) approach or a farside (downwind/base/final) approach.based on that i will give you 1 of 2 crossing restrictions.you will also be able to check the weather about 60 miles out, and atis will give you the active runwayas soon as you contact approach, you can choose a different runway than is assigned, OR you can ask for an IAP approach, and fly it the way you want it.2) i'm not a scenery guy, so i don't know what's there and what isn't. maybe in the next release i'll be smarter3) i don't think any. i don't know of any beta testers that have seen any either.jd JD Read my blog
