November 14, 200520 yr Hi,maybe this topic was discussed earlier, but I can't find any reference to it: Does RC4 give the ability to determine the arrival runway while enroute well before starting approach? FS9 ATC will give you information only if you are within 30 nm of the airport. Much too late to modify descend profile properly if you've guessed the wrong runway. Thanks, Thomas.
November 14, 200520 yr Hi there,You can obtain arrival atis within 70 miles of the airport in RC.At this point RC will be issuing a 'crossing restriction' based on the assigned runway. See the sections on p50 and 51 of the manual about this. The 'official' runway assignment will be given by the approach controller once 40 miles out. A word of warning, this may be different from the one given in the atis if RC has detected that the AI are using another runway. You can always, (if you wish) request a different runway, request a particular type of approach (as in v3) etc.All the best,John
